A&M map & islands in build 12

Hi,

I've uploaded on the FTP a mod pack where i have activated in build 12 the worldmap of the morgan pack and some of the new islands (all except 2) in sea mode (with coastraiders). I would like to have some people who test this mod and help me to complete it because all the new islands haven't locations and towns created.
i have only created a beach (by cloning) on the island of cuba and i can go ashore but when i return to sea, my boat is not reload at the good place. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

To test it, you'll have to start a new game and make backup of all the files that you'll replace by installing it because that's a very beta version for testing.

PS : I have created this mod for game with build 12.1 and the last pieter boelen Modpack (march 21 i think).

Back after downloading and installation... Game hangs after loading screen (halts at a grey - not black - screen) after selecting "NEW GAME".

I am back - got the game to run successfully by commenting out two lines in <span style='color:darkred'>locations_init.c</span> - line 13, and line 137.

I ran the game after commenting out line 13, and got the error for line 137. After I commented out that line, the game ran.

Alan, I've no clue why these lines make a problem in the game, perhaps you could check this out when you get the chance and see if you spot any problems... I'd take a gander at it but I <i>should</i> be SLEEPING; I have a long day, tomorrow, and an early start. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> How rude that "real life" should intrude upon helping test this marvelous new addition to PotC.

I know there are a lot of coders and modders with very good ideas in this forum and there are a lot of new town and jungle locations to create on the new islands. I think we shall all collaborate to create the new locations. I would like to see all the beautiful new characters who have been created recently for build 12 in the new towns and locations (New pirate characters who have been created by alan smithee have their place in Tortuga for example).
It would be a great project for us by waiting the PMT expansion Pack. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

This is great! I did find a few bugs though:
- When leaving Oxbay after the tutorial, your ship isn't regenerated anywhere near Oxbay, but somewhere in the middle of the ocean
- Some islands are on the map, but you can't visit them; they don't seem to have names either
- When entering sea mode from the map near Oxbay, I was somehow near Isla de Muelle, but when I entered `map-mode` again and sailed closer to Oxbay, I was reloaded near Oxbay and when entering `sea-mode`, I was still at Oxbay

Can't wait to see how this will all play out. I just love all the new islands! Now we just need their proper `land-locations` and towns! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
BTW: The forts don't actually work like forts yet, do they? I tried shooting at one, but it didn't work very well.

Yes pieter, the bug When leaving Oxbay is normal at this time. It's because there's a line of code propably in Quest_reaction.c who still load your ship at the old position of the island at the beginning of the main quest. I didn't change it. i only changed the positions of all islands in the Stormy Start Mod.

The two islands that you can't visit. This bug is because i haven't "added" them yet.
For the third bug, i don't know ! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I will look after that !

The forts are not activated because the original game activate forts when the fort locator is named "Reload_fort1" (and "Reload_fort2" for Oxbay). All the original island have a "Reload_fort1" locator. But the new island have no "Reload_fort1" locators. The forts locators have other names. To resolve that, i think we should find the code who activate forts in sea mode (Perhaps somewhere in sea.c.) and adjust the code. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />
 
Or just use Inez's tool to rename the locators.

Forts bug fix : To activate forts of new islands, the solution was simpler nathan ! It was just needed to create the forts commander in file :
PROGRAMCHARACTERSINITFortCommandants.c.

I have also "activated" islands of Antigua and Turks. This last one is very beautiful with lot of reefs. I think we should keep it to make an other pirate island or pirate Lair !

I have also fix the bug when leaving Oxbay. Position of the ship in Worldmap is now correct.

I have updated the Pack on the FTP <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> You can download again all the pack for more security or only the files that you miss in the RESOURCE FOLDER and all the contents of the PROGRAM folder. Don't forget to make backup of your originals files before installing (Fortcommandants.c is new in the pack so don't replace your original file before making a backup of it).

As for the fort commanders: Do they have their proper nation? I suppose so, right...?

Now all we need are the landlocations plus the proper inhabitants. It's as good as done! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
Are there also new city locations in that Morgan Pack/A&M mod that could/should be used? We really could do with those new islands working properly. Especially if it wlll be possible to actually take over towns and have them be set to different nations. Would be a bit weird if the Dutch would attack the French in the stock game, but the French have just one island, so after the city is taken over, there's no French town left. With new islands, this would make a whole lot more sense.
Of course, it would also be nescessary to have just one governor for every nation, right? So there is one "main" island for every nation. And what about: If the main island is taken, the governor flees to a random place and then you have to search for him and can take a quest from him to retake the city?
And we need new quests to make use of the new islands!

I thought maybe there should be one ruler over all the cities of one nation. Maybe that isn't nescessary though. BTW: Any idea what other stuff we might be able to use from the A&M mod? I just managed download what I think to be the A&M mod and found several nice character models and ship models. Lots of new weapon models too. These could be implemented then too, right? I really liked the Nathaniel Hawk skin with several types of armour.
