A question about AoP

Rad

Privateer
As I wrote already AoP isn´t sold in our country yet. I have some possibility for importing it from US. But there are two version of game. For US and for Europe. If I am from Europe do you think - would the US version of the game work on my computer? What are the differences? I know some games are common for US and Europe and more games aren´t. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Well, it might take a few weeks to arrive from the US - I suggest asking in some games stores near you first, they might get it before your ordered copy arrives. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

The question was if it would work. That´t the issue. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Oh, sorry... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Yes, it most probably would.

I can't realy notice any difference. But don't use my word
on it, it maybe does not work for you!? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

But Nosie why patches for US and European versions of various games aren´t interchangeable ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Rad, I think it has something to do with marketing.
The Computer Hardware is the same all over the World, so no
matter where you live. The stuff you buy comes from China,
Malaysia, Korea just to name a few places. I downloaded a game
from the US which is banned here in Australia because they think
it's to rude for us!.....and it works...and it is not a pirated copy,
I payed for it!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

I don't know what the difference is with respect to AoP but....

Generally the reason that there are differences between the US and European distributions is because of the locallized text and, sometimes, content. (Germany, for instance, has very specific and pervasive standards for games sold in their country.) Whereas games in the US can all be published in one language and under one 'standard' for the rating issued by the ESRB.

Game companies don't WANT to make different versions if they can help it. The costs associated with havign 2 code bases and having to manufacture 2 different sets of discs offset any 'marketing' advantage. Consider this as well: a game company doesn't care where you buy your new game as long as you are buying a legit copy. What we care about is sell-throughs-- games that sell through to a consumer.
