Maybe the scene with amelia and san fiorenzo could be included off one of the islands in the second cruising mission?

The Volage is rather similar to the Franklin, which is part of why I noticed her in the first place:) (on that website) the Hebe could also stand in for the Boadicea if necessary, though a model of Boadecia herself would be better. actually most of the french frigates in the mauritus command were sisters of either the Hebe or Revolutionnaire :onya as were a fair number of others that appear throughout the series.

Swapping out ship models at a later stage is easy enough and nothing to worry about.
Work with what we've got for now and make it better when better shows up.

yeah I was discussing it cause its relevant for later quests...sorry for being enthusiastic.
But what you say is true. all of the ships neccessary for the quests based off the first book are ingame now anyways, the amelia is definately for a minor side quest sort of thing, not at all central to the story.

Ok, I have dialog for Jack receiving command of the Sophie, inviting Stephen Maturin to join him, and receiving his orders for the first mission, escorting the convoy. I am struggling with finding a way to introduce Jack and Stephen to each other in the beginning. In the book, it happens at a concert where Stephen is put out by Jack's beating time and singing along with the quartet, and Jack's taking offense to being elbowed and shushed. They part with comments on where to find each other, suggesting a duel may be in the offing. Any creative ideas on how to recreate this in the game? Maybe put them in the Governor's mansion along with some other highbrow folks and officers? Music is a common thread that ties the two of them together throughout the series, but maybe for our purposes a simple "You spilled my beer!" kind of encounter would suffice. I will work out some dialog for either case. The music connection would be preferable, but if we can't come up with a good way to set the scene, I will go with plan B.

That's great!:) musicians probably couldn't be done, requiring new models an animations, but maybe it could be playing in the background? maybe it could be playing in the background as the govenor or some other dignatary gives a speech? and then stephen tells jack to stop beating time and it goes pretty much as in the book from there?

Yes, that is pretty much in tune with what I was thinking, pardon the pun. That reminds me... somewhere along the way I'll have to work in the "lesser of two weavils" and "a man that would pun would pick a pocket". Great lines, those. Now I need to put together the dialog for Jack and the admiral upon arriving at Speighstown and completing the first mission.

So speighstown is port mahon? not Kingston or Antigua? its whatever really, I just wouldve thought that those two wouldve had more military installations and better locations. If speightstown works though, then great!

Well, with Speighstown doubling as Mahon and (the town formerly known as Greenford) as Menorca, it keeps them on the same island, as they should be. Not really that big of a deal though. If we are going to use Petit Tabac as the setting for the first skirmish, it needs to be on the way from wherever we start to the convoy's ultimate destination. That is where the Flagship would be located for our purposes, as the next mission will be assigned by Admiral Lord Keith. Seems to me that would be a better fit for Antigua or Kingston.

Maybe, but Petit Tabac has the advantages of not having a fort or much random traffic to interfere with the scenario. Ok, upon rethinking this, I guess Kingston would be better for Mahon. We need a Governor's Mansion and it is close to Spanish islands. I guess we can take some artistic liberties and place the admiral's flagship there as well, and just by-pass Captain Harte.

oh I misread about petit tabac somehow, almost like an encounter at sea. Petit Tabac does sound for that for the exact reason you said, less random traffic. my bad! Antigua and Jamacia were the bases for the two british squadrons in the caribbean, so it would make sense for one of them to play the role of Port Mahon.

I wonder if it would be possible to, say, find a simple 3D piano model we could place in a governor's mansion or so.
With a character sitting behind that, it could be used to illustrate some measure of music being played live.
You could ask Bartolomeu o Portugues if he's got any thoughts; he's done things like that a lot in his storylines.

That might work, in the book it was violin or some sort of stringed instrument i believe, but a piano is much easier as far as animations and the like go:onya

If I remember correctly, we can choose between two violins, a viola, or a cello. I think they were playing a quartet, but I forgot the composer.
