so yesterday i moored <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> at redmont. first thing i saw was message that edgar went 'somewhere'. i found him drunken <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> at the tavern, helped him fight some bastards and went back to my ship (using fast movement). message poped up again - went back to tavern - found edgar, helped him fight, went to the ship. message poped up again <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> . to make long story short, he ran from me 7 times in a row! what kind of addictive sh*t do they sell at redmont tavern?:p <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Err, this is gonna sound stupid but who is edgar atwood? I mean i dont remember him at all!

So many names in this game, and theyre all damn boring as well. Maybe if they had interesting names (like Arthur Blackpudding) i would remember who they were

I couldn't remember who Edgar Atwood was either, until Captain Dams reminded me about the jail in Redmond. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Except for the "named" characters, the names in the game are generated from lists in one of the game files and, depending on the nationality of the person, the name that is generated reflects the national background. I'm pretty sure that "Arthur" is in the list of English surnames, and I would be surprised if "Blackpudding" isn't among the last names. (If it isn't, you could add it.) In time that name would show up. The best name that I've seen that was generated for one of the officers was "Moses Spice."

Did I read correctly, in another thread, that you are able to change your officer's names now?

If so, don't read what follows;




He's the guy in the jail, when you get arrested after talking with Danielle in the tavern on Redmond, who threatens to break your legs, tells you he is a gunner who got fired for drinking, and either will help you escape from the jail, or won't. Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't. After Silehard gets you out of jail, you can go hire him onto your ship and he has an adventure you can play.

Ah now i remember. I think he did help me once, might have had something to do with the luck factor (?). Didnt know there was an adventure involved, could you hint to me what the trigger is for this quest?

That only happened to me once, and I don't remember what I was lacking.

You need leadership/commerce/luck, (one or all, not sure) to be above around 5 or 6.

After hiring him 7 or 8 times his antics were just not fun anymore.
As I am usually able to train Rys Bloom to be a better cannoneer than Atwood anyway, now I just kill him.

when he leaves you in port, he is usually to be found in tavern. but when he leaves you in redmond, there is a chance that he won't be in tavern - and there his quest starts.
