Alpha 9.5: couple of answers needed for the new guy

Greetings fellos swashbucklers.

Got Alpha 9.5 working and I’m loving it but a couple of questions do come to mind.
I’m no mod so any help here would be great.


1st:
When playing the Blaze character, after the first quest and after meeting my long lost twin sister, my character gets a mayor exp boost.
All the skill lvls are around 8 with extra nice weapons and very expensive stuff in my inventory.
That’s a little bit too much of the good stuff, bug or feature?

2nd
Sometimes my character’s picture at the bottom left of the screen blocks the text when speaking to someone.
After using the new interface this happens less often though.
Not a big problem but it is annoying.

3thd
Is it possible to add some build 13 mods to the alpha 9.5?
Island to island sailing seems interesting enough and some other or two mods I’d like to add.
Will these cause problems with my current alpha mod?

4th
Same question as above I guess but I liked the music of the original game better.
Heard enough of the movie music to last me a life time.
Is this changeable?


5th
At the new game character screen, whats the effect between the different career choices?
Can’t remember them all but I believe military, trader etc are among the options.

I know im probs not much help but ill give it a try;

1st: Havn't a clue; to be honest the only quest ive bug-checked so far is the default one so im no help there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

2nd: This happens to me to sometimes. I think its just a long-running bug with the game. I seem to remember the original game doing it sometimes actually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

3rd: B14 9.5 should already have island to island and everything else 13 has unless im mistaken. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

4th: Yes I see no reason why not. There are also several sound mods available. Though ill leave it to someone else to explain because I havnt actually tried changing it myself <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> Have you tried overwriting b14's music folder with b13's? (I assume its in resource/sounds/music or something along them lines <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

5th: Well to be honest I thought it was something to do with skill levels; ie military gives you better cannon and accuracy when starting whilst merchant may give you better commerce or leadership. Also, maybe the items you receive. Though save that Im not actually sure.

1. The Devlin quests are not finished yet anyway. This was probably added for testing purposes.

2. Happens sometimes; beats me why. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wacko:" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

3. All Build 13 content is already in Build 14 Alpha 9. Or do you mean adding Build 14 Alpha content into Build 13?
There is a Build 13 compatible DirectSail mod here: <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=31" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?au...amp;showfile=31</a>
That version does not have the latest fixes to DirectSail included though.

4. We didn't remove the music from the original game at all; it's still used by default.
There is one PotC film music track added for English towns only; is that what you want to remove?

5. Based on your carreer choice, some of your skills should increase quicker.
For example, if you're a Merchant, your Commerce skill will increase quicker than the others.
I'm not quite sure if that works properly anymore though... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

What’s the folder the music is located in?
Maybe i just go and delete some.

edit: If the mods are included i don't need to add others.
Only the direct sail one was a must.
Is there a complete list somewhere with all the extra's of the mods summed up?
 
Check www.moddb.com/mods/new-horizons for a general list of features. There's no real complete list, truth be told.
For the music, have a look at PROGRAM\sound\ALIAS\music_standard.c.
I suspect you'll be wanting to remove the <i>tmpref.files.l2.name = "MUSIC\Eng_Town2.ogg";</i> line.
 
Found the files,but I would like only too have the original game music.
What othr files should I delete?

edit: only for the in town game.

A simple virtual sailor originally added the nation-dependent town music.
