Alpha 9--blank screens on load?

boardslide315

Powder Monkey
I just installed build 14 alpha 9, and i can't load any of my save games. I just get this plain black screen. The game is not jammed because I can still press F1 and go to the menu instantly. It's like it just didn't save right or something.

Also, none of the buildings on grand caiman seem to have a way for me to enter them. I go up to them and hit space and nothing happens (fast travel still works).

Anyone else have these problems?

edit: I also get a messed up black screen whenever i get on my ship for the first time. blah what's goin on?

Are you sure you installed properly as per <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=12809&view=findpost&p=307383" target="_blank">these instructions</a>?
The above are just too weird and suggest an installation error. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Yup look like another one that forget to delete those folders again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

One day... we'll need to include the removal of the files in the RunMe.bat file;
though that's hard to accomplish because your it AFTER the installation and not prior to it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

We can rename those folders in the package, then we can re-write the bat file to delete those folders and recreate them with the ones that we renames.

or if possible;

Can we program the exe so that it delete those folder prior to unpacking the mod?

I can't reprogram the EXE; the files are just self-extracting archives generated by 7-Zip.
Your first suggestion is a REALLY good one though! That should work! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Thanks guys. Okay, so can I go back and do those instructions now? Or is it too late?

Also I can't quite remember if I had build 13 full or not, though I know I was running build 14 alpha 6 without any problems...

I didn't remove those folders prior to install, I just copied over them. I'll try deleting them and re-extracting alpha 9 and see if that does the trick...

EDIT: blah, the above just made it worse, now even when i start a new game it's just like a black screen--though I can see the icon for my character.

Anyway. Is there any way to completely revert back to the original POTC installation? I'd uninstall the whole thing but i dont have my disc anymore...

I'm affraid at this point you will have to re-install.

I'm not suppose to say this but if you go to Isohunt you should get the game easy via torrent will take maybe a day or so to download it.
