I was doing a Google search for some Cutthroats related material and one of the pages that came up was an old post I wrote on the SeaDogs forum. It wasn't, however, on the SeaDogs forum. It was someplace called 2 dark Park which I have never heard of but a gent by the name of "NandP" thought highly enough of the work that he posted it. Kind of a neat feeling when you come up in a Google search by accident. Anyway, I wanted to post this link because it was written way back when I was still filled with a lot of anger over the inept way in which I thought Akella were handling their game design. The second half of this post was really bad, filled with a few too many typos for my taste and really coming across like preaching. Matter of fact, I really didn't have any unique ideas at all but instead strived basically for a revamp of Pirates! with a 3D SeaDogs engine. Well, two years later we're about to get our hands on just that --- minus the 3D but with graphics that are IMO just as satisfying. I never could have dreamed that the things I longed for and wrote about back then would actually be arriving in stores this soon! What I MIGHT have believed, however, is that it would take Sid Meier and company to perform such a feat while Akella continued to fumble around deciphering the Rosetta `Stone-like` complexities of "No Pray, No Pay."
The only thing worth reading in this post IMO is the first half. That's where all the anger is unleashed and boy was it fun writing. I mean I fired practically the entire Akella staff! I warn you I held no bars. Man, did I ever loathe Akella back then for letting us taste glory with the tips of our tongues then mercilessly snatching it away in a whirlwind of Portuguese galleons and skeletal warriors. Yeah yeah yeah, I know --- it was Disney behind it all. I have a few thoughts on that but it goes beyond the scope of this post so enough `jibber-jabber`. I hope you will get a laugh out of this and more than anything, let it remind you how far we have come in two years toward `piratical-gaming` bliss. I'll say it again: <b>GOD BLESS YOU SID MEIER!</b>
