i talk to a monk (animist) outside conceicao, he ask me to take the relic to his order at redmond shore if not i can't save my game. i went redmond shore, but i can't find his order. any idea?

This is a known bug... <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10325&hl=surcouf" target="_blank">http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php...&hl=surcouf</a>

What Build version are you using?

Sorry to revive an old thread but as it's the same issue and I've not managed to find any newer information. Was approached by one of the monks in Oxbay, took the combat abilities, took ages working out I couldn't save until I found the bugger and then never managed to find him. However I did find another monk, who gave me another cross, so I've got two and can't get rid of either but when I arrived in Redmond Port it let me save there despite not finding the character from the order on the beach. Do I need to restart my character and avoid these monks like the plague? Am using build 13, nae updates.

Cheers,

Frenchie

I couldn't find the other monk to give that as well, but there is an option on internalsettings.h (in program folder) that allows you to change whether you can save the game or not (don't ask if it works though, I've never tried).

I think that option disables the whole monk mod. I think there was a bug with the Redmond monk somewhere, but it was fixed at one point because I know I saw him walking around recently. Not sure which game version has the fix though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

It's ok, I just restarted my character and I'll have nowt to do with them. Plenty of other storylines to explore. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It's not much of a storyline anyway. You just get a skill boost with the penalty of being unable to save. That's all. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Dammit and I really did have hopes for holy hand grenades. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

We do have UNholy ones. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

which can destroy forests as i found out by accident. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> i wish i could have taken a pic of my face when that happened. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

LOL. Just the BuildingSet forests, I presume? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

yes. i was aiming for a bandit, but he was apparantly standing just a little too close to the locator. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" /> then the forest collapsed. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> it was like: ........................... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Does anyone agree the BuildingSet characters should be made immortal?

wouldn't that mess up with cutting down the forests? besides that, it's fun blowing up forests and hitting someone with a house! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Cutting down the forests with your blade? That's not really cutting up the forest. You can cut the forest up PROPERLY by "talking" to whatever character (usually an almost invisible lizard) has the forest attached to it. This should work regardless of whether the character is immortal or not.

that's exactly what i was talking about. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

well, if their immortal doesn't kind of negate the idea of defence platforms? such as stockade walls and cannons?

if you kill the guy manning the cannons it doesn't usually mean that the cannon would explode in real life. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> unless you destroy both of them at the same time with a really big gun of course.

I think that only the invisible characters, like preplaced forests should be made immortal. All the characters and defences are supposed to be able to be killed by the native attacks and such, and it would make giving the buildingset characters grenades less of a double edged sword.

Yes, and it wouldn't that get boring quickly?
