Just another arcade game! Hope I'm wrong, but.......

I agree Nosie, 1701 definitely had a both a cartoon look and feel to the game play. It didn't last long on my computer either. From what I have seen of 1404 though, I think this game looks MUCH better than 1701. I think they tried to "Americanize" 1701 a bit, and that really hurt it. It looks like they are going back to there old formula with 1404 and concentrating on getting the German version out first and then simply translating it like they did the first two games. I guess we really won't know for sure untill the game is released, but I for one am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one and I will pre-order it once an American release date is announced.
And for all of you that were wondering (me included) there will indeed be Pirates in 1404!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbs1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2up" border="0" alt="thumbs1.gif" /> It looks like they will also be even more piratey than ever! Here is a little update from yet another German web page, DemoNews.de, (again translated with Google Translate) with a few more details.

16.02.2009 - Source: DemoNews.de - Editors: Sven - Release: Spring 2009 - Area: PC
Until the release of Anno 1404 are probably still several months away. But the developers of Related Designs should be enough time to make another game like bugfreies as Anno 1701 is published. Until an official Ubisoft sales date of the latest game build-episode promulgated, we can still reckon with a lot of news. Today we have several ready.
According to Dirk Riegert, Lead Game Designer of Related Designs, it will be some conceptual content changes. For example, the system needs, especially the inhabitants of the empire's concerns, compared to the direct predecessor optimized. More precisely, it is only eight need categories. These are divided into commodity needs (food, drinks, clothes, possessions) and the building needs (community, faith, entertainment, security) on. In the game of course increases the complexity and the number of available goods. Ultimately one would like to beginners at the start does not overwhelm, but to other major cities also offer sufficient claim.
In Anno 1404, the Pirates called pirates. Besides a different name, these freebooters now something more important. Among other things, this can be with their own fleet of attack or, alternatively, a temporary contract agreement. Then it is possible, with the Corsairs to act. However, such a contract in the course more expensive and if you look too often with the "baddie" provenance, also suffers from the reputation of the player in the World Year of the 1404th. Those who did not care, but by the affection for the pirates and, for example, benefit improvements for fleet purchase.
Interesting is the possibility of the inhabitants of the city to give titles of nobility. This allows them to rise in prosperity and a level of civilization, which only the nobility is reserved. A metropolis, the only rich people should be in Year 1404 but does not give - that is ultimately unrealistic. Apropos: beggars are in the medieval world also play a role. Sun prefers luxury to the poor and you can decide whether their begging them the law confers. This costs money in regularly, but additional civil rights and reputation in the best case. Whoever rejects beggar, you must eventually take in that this sometime as lawless terror for sure.
Although very fair Anno 1404 Hardware requirements have to be, the game also DirectX10-capable graphics card explicitly support. Compared with DirectX9 are extra sharpness and blur effects when selecting buildings. Owners of multi-core processors also benefit from significantly more power when playing.
