Not strictly "piratey" I know..but has anyone here had thier paws on "Anno 1701" ? I saw an ad for it today and it intrigued me.

Ahoy Badger, 1701 is an OK game, but it doesn't stand up well against it's predecessors as far as game play goes. The graphics are pretty good eye candy, but in my opinion, 1602 and 1503 are MUCH better games. 1503 is dated graphics wise, but the game play is outstanding! If you can pick it up cheap, it is worth playing.

Ubisoft will be releasing a new Anno game, Anno 1404 sometime later this year in Q3 or Q4. From what I have been able to find about it, 1404 looks absolutely beautiful! Thanks chaps. I'll have a read about "1503" in case I see it on the cheap and I'll keep my eyes peeled fopr news on the new one.

get the expansion though. the original 1503 has a really annoying bug where the automatic trade routes get broken when two ships arrive in port at the same time.
