Unconfirmed Bug Annoying mast glitch

Not sure if anyone has experienced this before, but this really frequently happens when a ship gets demasted, and it's worst I think when using the Constitution frigate.

Whenever this happens, I notice that when I change my flag in Relations, the game crashes and says "abnormal program termination".

I tried deleting the options file, but this still occurred right after.

How does one fix this?

Would appreciate your advice.
