I want to start playing with the latest build, 13 or pre whatever its called. But am unable to get the game to run, I've tried it four times now, with no success.
I install the 'stock' game and then the 12.1 build, plus the M&C music mod and the game works fine, very stable. I install the 'pre 13' build over that and I get an error on running the game, there is an error message but I dont have it to hand at the moment. I've tried it without the music mod too and it still refuses to run. Any help is appreciated, sorry for going over old rope too... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

Hang on, I'll wait for the promised build that allows just one install over the 12.1 version I'm using. That would make more sense, or does anyone have a fix?
 
Do you have the Pre Build 13 base installation file? It should be about 300 MBs. Unfortunately it is not available for downlaod anywhere at the moment, even though it IS required.

Ah... that would be the reason then, I only have the original potc disks, plus the build 12.1. Where was the 'base installation' available from before then? or was it ftp once, but is not any longer.

Ah but it isnt, as Pieter says above, the base installation file is not available. So I'm stuffed... abandon ship.
 
Okay, okay. I've made it available on p2p again. Using emule myself. File name is "pre_b13_base.zip". Size just under 300 MB. Upload priority in on "release". Will leave the machine running for a week or two (bar occasional reboots). Enjoy.

Not sure, I am no great expert, but AFAIK, any p2p should do it. I had users connecting to me with edonkey, emule, and other p2p things. Not sure they weren't all from the emule family. Why don't you install emule anyways? It has nothing bothersome in it, no spyware and stuff... Just install it, you can easily get rid of it later.
 
I downloaded it. It's a bit hard to use, IMO. Do I just type in pre_b13_base.zip into the search field?

Yes, and in the search method dropdown, choose Global(servers). Guess that should do it.

Yep, noticed you requesting. Gave you a friends slot.

Those whom I notice while I am at the keys, will get a friends slot (think it gives priorities as to the upload). It will be kinda slow, but it should do the job. And if a lot of us start downloading this through p2p, the speed will rise <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

No idea. My guess is that if you have standard emule functionality, you should be able to DL it as usual <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Don't worry, it happens, unfortunately. Leave it running, it will start downloading further after a while. You might need a few days running time to download it - such is the nature of p2p.

It would have been faster if we were exchanging files, but I was hoping to offset it by assigning you a friends slot. Apparently, it does not work as well as it is supposed to. But it will work, you just need some patience.

If you are really concerned about time, well, let's have it via ICQ, if you wish. The speed will be about 3KB/s, but it will be a sure thing. send me a PM if you want me to pipe it down via ICQ. I will reply with my number.

It is not a great thing, as it used to be many years ago. Now it is full of advertising and such. Still, it is pretty harmless, and uninstallable too. It's got some possible security holes, as I've learned about two years ago, but it is nothing disastrous or quick. In a few days you'd be using it, nothing bad will have time to happen :)

Now, thus reassured :), go download it, install and sign up for a number. My number is 273945637. Ask me for authorisation, say it's you. I'll be at the keys for the next hour, after that I'm prolly off to hit the hammock :) Try to manage within this time, so that we can start the file transfer (it will definitely take overnight and possibly longer. I've launched my ICQ now and am waiting for your request. Good luck :)

To all: I am piping down the thing to Colosseum at 10KBps now. He's in US, European users will prolly have it slower, but by all means you are welcome to contact me and I will pipe it down to you as well. You'll probably have to wait for authorisation and transfer till tomorrow morning at least - I am hitting the hay pretty soon.
