Anyone feel like they have done everything?

It is kinda funny how it fits like a comfortable shoe. I asked my brother last night what he thought after playing it for about an hour. He said it felt like the original. Which is what I thought when I got the beta version... when it wasn't crashing that is <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

`MS-StarForce` GeForce4 MX 440(AGP8x) with 64 MB DDR SDRAM, by MSI.

Yes, I'm sure it's 8x AGP <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Banzai: I didn't know that. Guess my memory failed me. Ah well, it's still a bad card... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Heh, I don't totally disagree there. When on a budget a year or so ago, it was a decent midline and allowed me to play NeverWinter Nights when it came out, and then it also ran Splinter Cell for me.

basically I've hit the spot where I'd rather upgrade the mobo and chipset before the video card, which will then leave me with only enough money for a midline card <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />

Hehe. Well, in my experience, I've noticed that a `high-quality` graphics card will last you longer than a mobo and hcipset upgrade. So if you already have 8x AGP on your mobo, you would do pretty well by upgrading your graphics card first. That's what I did (although I didn't have a mobo with 8x AGP when I bought a Radeon 9800 Pro).

I found that a decent graphics card is what one really needs. It's better with a slow processor and a fast graphics card, than with a fast processor and a slow graphics card. Much better.

True, but.. hurm... I'm just a bit tired of my AMD Athlon XP 2100+ and want to get something in the 3 gig range. Too bad, I can't sail up to the nearest spanish computer store and fire a volley at them, and then attack!

Ah, if you have an AMD Athlon XP2100+ it's definately your graphics card that's causing the bottleneck. And if you have an onboard soundcard too, that's causing even more slowdown. Having a Soundblaster 5.1 or something like that takes a lot of pressure of the processor, and the speed could increase a LOT.

GF4 MX440 is no faster than the `top-of`-`the-line` GeForce 2 cards. Considering how much recent the GF4 is, that's pretty bad.
