AOP: addon wishes

It would be good if the game could have a more developed economy, like if huriccane pass it would be normal that the all crops are more or less destroyed so that population dont have much for export; when a pirates or other nation harrassed the colony its population could be imprisoned like slaves and the main character should save them or at least they should be impoverished; also it would be ok that when you bombard a town from the sea, houses and buildings should be damaged; ofcourse interior of ships is a great feature and interior of the buildings to be robbed personally.... thats all for now... i am sure that ill think of something more

hey thats some good ideas! it would be cool if you came back to your island after it just got raided and see shelled out homes and things like that. maybe even add the possiablity to see some dead people lying around. really like it, would be even better if you could go to other islands and raid them for personal slaves and then leave, as to avoid a all out attack but also be able to gain something.

To enhance the realism (and roleplaying),(like a developed economy) i would like the ship to have a interior, and i want my own cabin!!!
(ignore that)......... Anyway it would be nice to have a cabin that takes over the fuctions of an options screen. It would be possible to save, adjust options, store items, or plot a course on the map, even adorn it with treasure (you know implement the topship view to make it a more realistic way of traveling). Jungles are cool but how to make them work within the borders of the engine, searching for treasure isnt all that hard if the jungle is divided in certain areas, however it would add to the realism if there are some jungle areas, for example to load of illigal goods. We dont know, (except the developers) what the addon will add but then again dual swords sounds cool .............. (my only hope is that it will not be canceled ,because of the low selling figures. almost no one knows the game exist, and that does not bode well)

i`ve got some new ones: taking the colony from the land as a option for taking it from sea. Of course that would lead to a massive land combat, maybe something for a multiplayer version that could include musket fire.
Something like landing in a unprotected bay and going by foot to take the fort and in the way sacking the town?

Organised battle is somewath to much to ask, but coudnt it be possible to replace the ship area with a fort area and like the battle on a ship conquer the fort.
btw how is a colony conquerd, e red somewere you can buy the governor out, but it seem inlogical that there isnt a violent way to take over a town. and the posibility to fight in the streets doesnt seem so far fetcht

well the bribing of the governor should be in the game, i red it too <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> , as for the street fights it could be that it`s more difficult task, but maybe feature for the games in the future ( i bet it`s not all that will see from akella, btw i am not akella developer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> ). my wishes are that the game concetrating on sailing and looting should have somewhat more realistic features, for example ships should be careened from time to time, like they done it in the old times <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" />
 
I'd like to see more realistic sailing features, myself. The ability to raise and lower individual sails would be awesome. Often I find myself in Sea Dogs raising and lowering sails to keep the pace with a ship I'm chasing, but want to weaken with grapeshot before I board them. Also, the game should take into consideration the draft of different vessels, so if you are sailing near an island in your sloop and a warship engages you, simply go toward shallow water to escape him.
 
nice idea, infact shallow draft of pirate ships was often used for escaping the larger warships, but also for smuggling with local people ( usually the dutch ). i support this idea!
 
I would like to see an oar method, big boat i mean ships and even small ones had oars, when theres no wind or if u want to get a very little boost, or in shallows. I think a personal inventory limit (weight, space) would neaten things up. And a the ability to get a cook, keep up crew moral with a good broth.
 
it would be fun if you could have impact on colonial economy by trading with poorer towns and thus enriching them or disrupting the enemy trade or of certain town. it would be ok if there is a option to see ship`s homeport and its shiplog which would help you to get some insight of what hapened in other part of the caribbean, maybe the certain port trade and information which could change as time passed, something like gathering the information through talk with townfolks. as for the weapon it could more realistic, say for example guns, you couldnt buy a cannon simple in any port when you wished. pirate could armed his ship only with cannons taken from another ship or town plundered. how about gunpowder and muskets? it would be cool if soldiers of besieged town could form military line and defend them self with discipline, but those ideas are perhaps for another topic <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
 
oh yes i forgot, since the world of caribbean was, at least in 1640s, a world of small ships, it would be fun if you could recruit individual crewmen and upgrade each of them so some could even overpass your skills by gaining expirience, also individual. it shouldnt be difficult since such crew should be max 50 in size and you couldnt easily recruit in tavern a huge numbers of them or how much you need. there would be a loyalty status ( posible mutiny? ) and division of plunder and also if you are privateer - kings part ( 10 - 20 % of plunder ). maybe fame status which if its high should help you to recruit more crew, improve your status in the colony ( enriching the certain port by selling your plunder cheaply as in reality pirates did done and giving the local governor kings share ) etc...
marriage and children, your own house and property would be cool... blah, blah, blah <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

leased by local merchant syndicate who in return took part of the spoils and in that way ( altough after few such plunders ) pirate and his crew bought off the ship from them. the crew should, after division of spoils, get drunk making riots and i bet that it would be challenge for player ( if he didnt joined them ) or local authorities to discipline them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" /> but thats whay the gallows and jail served <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
maybe it would add some difficulty to game when your crewmen - individuals had to be rescued from local dungeon?
at last - smugglers? they were principaly the dutch in period of 1640 - 1680 and altough prosecuted by other nations, local population were sympathetic to them since they brought goods in the need or far cheaply than other nations and seizure of smuggler ´s ships could result with open riots of local population....
to add my replies above: crewmen - individual could die in the battle whether on sea or land, but those with highest expirience and that means higher skill points should survive so making the core of players party <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

hmmm.... sorry - one more, the crewmen could be pressed from local population ( maybe even raided for such purpose ) or from surviving sailors of seized enemy ship... in such way you could get into service surgeon or a carpenter and since your crew ( on my proposal ) would be small, attacks on town could be done from nearby beach and not necessarily by ship - fort attack... but as for sea attack, many bigger ships, like frigates, had smaller crew <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

yeah i know its a bit complicated, but it can be done, except maybe a part with crewman - individual <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> . rest is combination of real pirate history and something done in other pirate games ( in rather small scale <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> )...
maybe it would be better that i wrote those in dreamgame topic <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> .... anyway i bet i´m gonna dig up more stuff <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" /> ( drinking & drunk part would be fun, though )
 
terasure searching and wreck diving, capturing eminent citizens and ransoming them, pesos instead of dubloons ( in fact more used currency by pirates, ten dubloons was a small fortune since equaled 160 pesos and was two - three years income of ordinary worker ), loading / unloading the goods on the dock by workers and sailors, some real historical pirates and people, more than one tavern and shop and auction of prizes by local merchants and people, jungles and villages, more than one fort or battery per island to capture, beaches and cultivated fields to be burned making so impact on the colonial economy.... it´s to much even for me.....
