Are MOW's Overated?

[Hu Kwan Do]

Okay, not unboarable, but untakable, so you cant use them except against the BP and, though you can sell them, you cant sail them without a high sailing skill (They must be difficult to sail because of the size, if you think about it)

But really... You don't usually see the MOW until you are well along in the game... That they are available for sale so readily in shipyards is something that should be edited, I agree...

I saw them just after I sailed from Redmond after telling Silehard about the French Invasion.

I love the MOW.

I like to rip the big guns off em and replace them with 12pounders.

Then MOW down everyones masts with my rapid fire cannon barage!

I captured one and transferred the crew of two frigates onto it, then I left the frigates docked at Conceicao and took the MOW to Oxbay, where we sunk the blockading battleship and frigates. Then I took the MOW back to Conceicao and docked it, and took my other two ships back. I'll leave the MOW in drydock there until I need it again. It requires too much crew to sail around with all the time.

I always used to use culverines before the build. They had the furthest range, though longer reload time. What do you do with an entirely demasted MOW? I give my MOW about 1/3 the ma crew. It still costs alot to maintain, but the cargo makes up for it. A good Admiral will not put his flag on the biggest bulkiest ship. Still, a MOW does provide a good distraction durring big fleet battles. After playing in one as long as I did, you learn it isnt as good as it seems. I prefer lighter battleships now, maybe dipping into corvettes.
