I just thought I would post a little of the piraty art I have done with possibly more to come.

This one is not quite finished. I don't think I will finish it because I accidently got the dynamics of the sea a bit wrong and would have to redo the water, I still like it though. I suppose I could call it "Chase"

The pictures below and above were both drawn in the car on a trip to Kansas City. The Bottom one is definately more fantasy like. I think I shall call it "Entering the Fjords"

This is a picture drawn on the way back from Abaline, Texas. Here is quite a big brig. I think I shall call this one "Marauder"

So what do you think? I might try to get more up in the future. There is one particularly nice color pencil drawing I have that I need to get a picture of to put up here. I have some plans for more pictures using colored pencil as well as some black and white ones too.

really nice drawnings <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />, I think that I should upload some of my too, I made a painting yesterday with a little scene (only 2 ships) of the first Anglo-Dutch wars.

you're better than i am. on the other hand, i've only learned to draw by practicing myself. i think i'll put some stuff up myself one day. it's going to be game-inspired, and will likely include characters as well.

If I am at school, when I am bored (which is quite a lot) I always draw things that are in my head I want to put in the game.

thanks. A lot of my drawing is self learned, but my mother is a very good artist (mainly portraits), so I guess it passed on to me. I have had a little bit of art schooling though and always love to watch Bob Ross. The next time I visit my parents' house, I will try to get a picture of the color pencil drawing I did. It has a little bit of characters (not really a historically accurate amount but I was pressed for time). The next big color pencil picture will have many more characters though I suppose you are probably referring to a particular character being the focus of the picture. I think I might just go ahead and start doing some more sketching anyways though.

Yeah, I draw and doodle a lot in class too. I've done some neat little miniatures of ships and stuff in my notebooks and a lot of other stuff. I draw other stuff, but drawing ships has always been my favorite.

I think it is great to learn yourself. Art isn't engineering, so besides some guidance on the best way to portray certain things like water and stuff, it's probably better to do things your own way. I for one don't use "proper" pencil technique.

Maybe I should draw something for my pirates ahoy signature.

Keep them coming. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Very nice work. I agree with Old Salt, keep them coming. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

i've made a really nice american sloop of war in my math book, but it's smudged all over the place now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> that was certainly one of my best. i really need to practice on waves though, although my first attempt turned out pretty good.

That's a shame, I'd say if the smudging wasn't that bad you could post it here.

well, it's still quite good. you can still make out all the lines, but the shading and black and white coloring is skrewed up.

hmm....on second thought, this may not be my best. those cannon hatches are looking pretty wobbly. however, i have a nice schooner which looks even better, although it is a lot smaller, along with a bermuda sloop.
