b_mansion files - are they used?

High Sea Lass

Hopelessly lost
Storm Modder
As the topic and topic description says - what are these b_mansion files used for, are they used and needed by the game or is it a mod that can be disabled, and what mod is it that they do come from?

the b_ files are used, as far as I know by CCC's buildingset
If you haven't seen its features already talk to a tavern hired offcer

the buildings produced look a bit funny and have no clipping but apart from that its a good mod.

On an unrelated note, how do you up the limit on the number of buildings.
I rased the value at the top of CCC's functions file but after a certain number of buildings it still takes my resources but nothing appears

Buildings are limited by two things:

Number of locators in a given area, and maximum number of characters in a given area.

If either of these fail, it fails to build... and takes your money anyhow. I added a toggle to my game to eliminate this mod completely, as I dislike unfinished stuff like this disrupting my view of the already great looking game.

Thanks. A couple of more questions, please.

Are they actually used by the game somewhere? If so, where, and is it possible to remove the mod somehow, and without breaking things?

I didn't use that mod much, but I believe that Building Set doesn't have any impact on gameplay. It's done for player only; once some kind of building is founded main character can get some addidtional profit (i.e., when forest is build, the outcome would be some free planks; with some other building type, player can produce rum. Building Set allows also creation of fortifications, which can be attacked and which defends player, his officers and his property). Those buildings can be build or not; if they aren't the behaviour is like those mod didn't exist.

There are several Building Set buildings added to several location by default though. For example the extended Oxbay suburbs and Antigua and Saint Martin. I like them though, because it makes these locations look different from the default locations without actually being completely new locations.

Why do you want to remove that mod? It IS finished, but it simply works odd. But that is because of limitations in the game engine. I still want to do something about it eventually. I once had an idea that might improve the workings of that mod, but all my attempts so far have resulted in crashes, because I can't convert the 3D models to models that the game accepts as character models. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

BTW: I don't think the amount of locators has anything to do with the buildings. The buildings aren't built on locators.
