Back after a long time away!

Celtoi 937

Sailor
Hi! Celtoi 937 here. About five months ago, I... uhh... misplaced my install discs, AND lost my backup files. So, I kinda sorta got away from POTC. Just this past week, while off school for the holidays, I FOUND THE DISCS!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I was thrilled. I imediately got back on the forum, and now I'm wondering, what'd I miss? I remember there was an idea floating around about converting the main story to that of good ol' jack sparrow. What ever happened with that? Thanks!

I'm actually new here, but the community has managed to get in contact with Akella and Seaward and things look promising. Help, advice, and possibly tools for, potentially, either Pirates of the Caribbean or City of Abandoned Ships or both. There's also talk and consideration of porting or moving over to City of Abandoned Ships, Seaward's new game (their first game we'll actually play from them in the States). It's a pretty exciting game, and you should check out the interview posted in the Age of Pirates General Discussion forum. It looks like it may be the best one yet, and with the Build Mod, it could be even more incredible. It's set for a release date of Q1 2008 (anywhere from January to March, so not much longer) and is already released in Russia.

Woah! That's awesome. Also while I'm thinking about it. Are there any known issues with PotC running with Windows Vista?

I run it fine on the 64-bit version of Vista. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I believe a number of community members are playing the game with Vista. I don't remember any big problems, but if any are there, I am sure someone will post about it here. Welcome back. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I run PotC on Windows Vista as well and that works. I had to enable some compatibility mode things though to be able to use my mouse in windowed mode. And sometimes the game screen will appear half off the screen, which is annoying and I then need to start the game again. But other than that, it works fine. The worst problem is that I can't see textures on character models in the GM Viewer anymore. VERY annoying! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/boom.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":boom" border="0" alt="boom.gif" />

Check my signature for the latest game versions and download links. We are currently working on Build 14 Alpha 8. The original main quest has been rewritten to work as a prequel of sorts to the CotBP story AND the actual CotBP film quest is also in the works. Both quests need some more work, but the biggest parts have been done now. It's just a matter of improvements and fixes now.

There are talks and thoughts of cooperating with Akella and seaward.ru and moving over to the City of Abandoned Ships game they're working on, but we do not yet know how this will turn out. Two things are for certain: We don't want to abandon the work we have done so far and we don't want to lose any members. So we're trying to walk a very thin line here, but hopefully it'll turn out very well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />
