Best for combat??

I just wondered what people thought was the best pirate based game it in terms of sea combat, ship to ship?
 
I love the ship battles in "Pirates: Live the Life". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
 
Battles in Pirates of the Caribbean tend to be slower than those in Pirates, unless the ships involved are small, fast, and well-crewed. Aside from that, night battles in Pirates simply look awesome. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I am probably way to biased ...but I prefer good ol' Sea Dogs! Granted, they were not particularly realistic ...but it was sure a hell of a lot of fun picking off the Spanish Treasure Fleet one ship at a time! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Actually Im hoping they will bring it out for the DS.

How about Sea Dogs 2 though?

POTC meebe second best IMHO.

I second that, Lazarus, Sea Dogs blew me away when it first came out and still does. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p2" border="0" alt="pirate3.gif" />
 
Best Ship to Ship combat would be Pirates Of The Burning Sea, mind ye that's player vs player, and mission ships are challenging at higher levels' <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thanks, but I get the impression that some people prefer SD to POTC, is that true?

Not only did they change the name, they also changed the story line, added undead and curses, and toned down much of the pirate action! ...Don't even get me started!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />
