Best Pirate Game?

Civrules

Landlubber
Well, as I hear, there will (obviously) be more games about pirates. Sea Dogs 2 will be one as well as Sid Meier’s Pirates!. There are some others too.

In your opinion, which will be the best? The game I have the most information on now is Pirates!.
I don’t even know an official site about Sea Dogs, so I don’t know if it is a good game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Here's Akella's website - they don't have anything up yet about "Sea Dogs II" (or whatever they are going to call it) because they are still trying to straighten out some legal issues about it...

Well hard to say as the real 2 front runners are totally different games
the 2 i mean the SD2 and Pirates! ill probably end up spending more time on SD2 though as i think the world they create to be more immersive with the engine and perspective,

The other like Voodoo Islands, PR2, POTBS, CaptainBlood and that all have at least one glaring weakness where as SD and pirates dont really

yeah standard PC game price, im not sure what that is US in OZ though its around AUD$`85-95` these days i think

it will probably end up being around $50 - as for me personally i think i will probably end up spending more time on SD2 for the same reason that the world is more immersive, although i will probably most definately eventually buy P!2 just for the fact that the original was so darn addictive and i consider to be one of the finest games ever, they say they improved it so we will see, like you said though they offer two different styles and it is up to the gamer to decide which style they prefer.

Well, I have to be honest, I have never heard of Akella games until about a few days ago. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />:
On the other hand, I have much more experience with Sid's games.

The one thing I notice about these pirate games is that they all have same general features...Almost too similar.

As long as it doesn't flop, I expect PotBS to be the best. If it ends up anything like PotC (except with 1000's of players) how can you compete with that? Of course if you're not up to paying a monthly subscription then it's automatically going to be out of the running for your personal favourite. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

And thats it i think, i dont see it doing that well. I think it will be a great game and all but the mm line of games has been flooded and i think people are being rather picky with them favouring the classic game server type of online games, but hey i hope im wrong and it all goes really really well for them a dev company like flying lab really deserve to have a big winner

Yes, and Flying Labs has really worked hard on their POTBS project - I was impressed with what I saw at E3 - and they said there was more to come - more improvements &tc... Whew... I am not an online gamer to say the least, but I truly was impressed... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
