Best ship?

Ok i know that Ship of the Line is the best ship ,but you can't just get it like that ,so my question is wich is the secound best ship? I have a Flag Galleon but i've seen frigates ,large frigates and some other ships.

I got the large friage early on from Henry Morgen. As for a good retirement age, Im currently 40ish and in poor health but still taking on the best. Im numero uno. Heh heh. HTH!

My personal fav is the Royal Sloop. 20 cannon`s, fast and can turn almost instantly. While it does not have the durability of the larger ships because of its speed you can avoid most cannon shot.

I concur with the Royal Sloop as my choice. The speed and the ability to turn quickly make it a great ship for closing in quickly.

Aye,I'd be luv'n de royal sloop wid all de upgrades I'd be kick'n arse,jest defeated Baron Montalban at his secret hideout, jest 'at one alone I'd be filthy rich <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />A lot O de notoriuos pirates 'ave frigates,an war galleons wid upgrades <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I like a Royal Sloop and a Brig of War. The brig packs a punch and has some pretty cool sail qualities... it's best point of sailing is kinda all over the weather gaugue.

I be a' sailin' dee sturdy `20-gun` Brig o' War "Redeemer", a fine sea terror da likes of which dee Spaniards 'ave neva' seen before!! Avast, mee finds dee larger vessels a' trouble at keepin' speed with lighter craft, especially when a' sailin' into da wind (a most crippling handicap for a `blood-thirsty` pirate such as I!!).

Am with Royal Sloop `18-20` canons <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> , I can easly sink bigger ships , since all the ships has no bow chaser just stay infornt and trun to fire then sail forword again until `9-10` canons of the port or starboard reload then easy fast trun to fire and continue ..... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Depends on your style of play. Pound for pound, ship of the line, or the next best warship is the large frigate. If you like running around dodging cannon fire and wearing down the enemy, royal sloop or even a pinnace will do the job (assuming you don't get hit)

I got a Large Frigate early in my game from Morgan and I came to love it. It's mostly a matter of style IMO... stick with a Royal Sloop if you want to stay fast and nimble, go with a `Frigate-line` ship if you want all out power. Besides ship combat, I'd say the advantage a larger ship has over a smaller one is the larger crew... a fully crewed Large Frigate (especially with triple hammocks) carries enough men to take on most towns all by herself. It has a larger cargo capacity too, but in practice the extra space is usually filled with food to feed your larger crew, so the "extra" space is sort of a loss IMO.

You have to be lucky and happen to sail by a Ship of the Line if you want to get one, but they're pretty rare.
