Blacksmith problems...

Hiya all,

I had a go at PotC with Pieter's mods too, and have been looking for somebody to fix my Windmill Slayer, but have not succeeded yet. I have asked for the blacksmith directions from the townsfolk, but when I get there, I found a locked door or a house with a normal person inside.

You sure you've been using my most recent version? For all I know, it should `more-or`-less work properly. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" />

That explains a lot. The file on the FTP isn't the most recent version and is known to be faulty. Get the right version <a href="http://millenniumdock.bravepages.com/storage/others/PotCMods.zip" target="_blank">here</a>. That file should be removed from the FTP or replaced with a proper one.

Yes, but as I have recently discovered, this new modpack has the Blacksmith shop closed too. It doesn't display a locked OR an open icon, but when i press the action button it sounds a `knock-knock`. Nothing happens. I have tried "I" and "T". <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />
 
I'm quite sure that was fixed. Did you start a new game? That will be nescessary I suppose...

I just downloaded this mod from the link given above, thats alot of files to overwrite. Do I just drop them into their corresponding places and be worry free?

You should be safe to just overwrite everything, but this file is still in testing phase. For all I know, it works fine, but it hasn't been tested very much, so please report any bugs you might (will) find.

And it's all the blacksmiths that aren't doing it for ya, on any of the islands? I haven't downloaded this mod myself to see what's what.
 
Yes. According to Pieter, this was fixed in the newest version of his unofficial Build 12.2. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
 
It is indeed fixed since half a week ago or so. It was caused by a missing line of code in the location_init.c file. It wasn't commented as being part of the blacksmith mod, so I forgot to add it at first.

I installed it and started a new game, everything works fine up untill when you land on Gray Rock Bay on the island of Oxbay with some English soldiers. Right after you win your supposedly suppose to sneak into Oxbay and meet this spy etc.

When I land on the beach the dialgue with this guy I met at Greenford follows, he says the French have seen his lantern light and now we much fight. But, none of the English soldiers or anyone else lands on the beach with me and the entrance to the Oxbay jungles is locked, the French dont arrive either.

Before I installed the mod I was able to get past this part of the game smoothly, after I installed it I get this problem so I guess it might be a bug? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
hm... well, try pressing "I" before you get to that point, and again when you're on the beach if you need to. I get a lot of little errors like this, when the computer is supposed to take over the action in the game but something doesn't connect right. Like, I think it's later in that same quest, when you have to sneak out of Oxbay tavern with the `French-dressed` spy... also it's happened a time or two when i first meet Danielle and Ralph in the tavern. You have to do things just right, can't kill anyone too early or too late, or it all gets screwed up - no one talks or moves, doors locked. Buncha bollocks...
