Boarding bug

Doober

Buccaneer
Storm Modder
I have recently been getting a bug consistantly when I board fleuts that have a higher crew count. I fight on the first deck and kill everyone, but it never allows me to continue on, for some reason it never unlocks. I've only noticed it happening on fleuts with 60 or more men, but its possible it occurs at other times. Anyone else run into this problem? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

That would be my department.

First of all, exactly what ship are you sailing, and what is the enemy ship type that shows up in the spyglass? There are several types of fleuts. Also, are you boarding the other ship, or did they initiate boarding? Which upper deck did you get: two ships side by side or one of the larger single-ship decks? One is wider than the other but it's hard to tell them apart unless you've see them both recently.

Most important, what version of the code are you running?

I just went through all the information on the fleuts, and there doesn't seem to be any problems in the version I have. If you're running one of the newer versions, some of the boarding location code may have been changed.

Also, exactly where did it stop you from continuing, the upper deck or one of the lower ones?

I was sailing the green frigate, and initiated boarding on the dutch fleut. (ship type was "dutch fleut", not just a dutch fleut)I could not progress past the top level. It was the two ships side by side. I was using the August 21 code. I attempted it several times just to make sure and it did the same thing each time. I then downloaded the latest Sept 10 version in hopes that it would fix it, but now it says incompatible build, so I will have to start my game over and work up to see if it will happen again.

I checked it out and that version of the code shouldn't have had any problems. I'd already taken care of all the reasons you'd normally end up stuck on a deck.

There's been a very minor change since then that may have caused a problem in very very few boardings, having to do with rounding 1/3 off to .333 and 2/3 off to .667, so you could possibly end up with an extra crewman. It's unlikely you'd ever see it again. The one time I saw an extra crewman it didn't cause problems. But if there was an extra enemy crewman who didn't have a location on deck, you'd have that problem.

Anyway: Neither the August 21 nor the September 10 version is the version you should be using. Get the Build 13 Beta version from my site instead. That should work much better. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Sorry Pieter,
I know I should have been using the Beta, I was just so far on my previous game and had the perfect ship, I couldn't bear to give it up. I've conquered my addiction of my beautiful frigate though, and installed the Beta, I will let you know if I ever come across the problem again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Excellent! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />
