British Military Skins

The first of the new British Skins. This is a soldier of the 5th Regiment of Foot from the American War of Independence. These blokes were tough.

I really wish I could make the Black Watch 42nd Highlanders, but we would need a model with a kilt for that. They were tough buggers too.

The straps are difficult to get right. They still need some work, especially on the back.

What rank should I make the officer? Or should he be a sergeant?

Oh holy cow, the missing there is a musket! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

Yeah, now I wish more than ever that we had bayonetted muskets. Oh well. That's a task for the animation department.

WoW! Looks really great,, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Glad you all approve. This is an British Captain from the same Regiment. Since putting up the poll I realize that it would be impossible to make an accurate British Infantry Lieutenant because they only had one epaulette. Since the model had only one sleeve, I have to make two. So, by default, he's a captain.

I'll start on the Naval skins later.

Just thinking... what're the chances you could fake a kilt out of the old guy "researcher" model, with the apron?

Maybe a kilt with `built-in` rear AC...

Steal the kilt off of the skeleton in the Redmond Dungeon. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

His clan may get mad at you, however.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I've seen reports of that guy, Mings, but I've never actually seen him `in-game`, or come across a model or skin of him... Does he really exist?

I think he is more set decoration than model, but yes, he does exist. Before Build 11 you could take his Highlander blade from his corpse.

JMV575, regarding kilts, are there any Morrowind models that have something `kilt-like` that could be used on a POTC model? I can't recall any specific kilt costume, and don't know if these is even a feasible suggestion, but I seem to recall having seen something in the kilt line in that game. They do have a lot of outfits in Morrowind, maybe more outfits than weapons!

Yeah, and once we figure out a kilt model, we can get to populating an entire island with little Catholic schoolgirls...

Sorry its taken so long to get back to this. Some other things have taken the forefront. Regardless, here is what I've knocked together tonight. Its a RN `post-captain` from `1795-1812`. Of course, the hat is wrong, but what is else is new. Some of you may notice that this `post-captain` is different than the one I made that is currently in the build. Well, I hate to say it, but I made an error in the dates. The pack that is currently in the build does not represent the correct uniforms. Those uniforms were used `1787-1795`. The new ones, will all be `1795-1812`. Sorry 'bout that.

Still looking good to me <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

Does this look like Jack Aubrey? I can't find a good head on pic from the film, so I'm trying to adapt the man1_1 face. I'm afraid I've been working on it too long to recognize if it looks anything like him or not.

Ahhh. I started working on something else and just checked again. This looks like crap. Nevermind. Sorry mates.
