Brits are hostile toward me again

It´s nice to see you how you look and how old are you. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yaaarrrrrr!!!!!! I'd say Hook looks like a fine sea-dog, and I'd say any crew would be proud ta' have'im aboard!!!!

On the other hand, I'd also imagine ye'd be havin' ta double the rum ration and reel in plenty of plunder to keep a sailor like him around!!

Cheers,

I have only two things to say: Wenches, and fine sea battles. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

There should be another cheat somewhere to raise your reputation to at least neutral. I don't know much about them.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
If you have enabled the cheatmode in BuildSettings.h, you can use the Numpad 7 button to cycle through all reputations. It's useful for testing, but also if your reputation keeps dropping.

I put this line into the file and it seems to me it works. My reputation is a little higher now I am Boody Terror and it´s sufficient for trading and reparing for me except Brits and French colonies which are hostile to me. For me the reputation is now the way I would consider as a standard for the game. If some alternative options would be added into the BuidSettings.h, for example 1 - current reputation as it is, 2 -the reputation with using /2 as a less severe, 3 - the reputation with using /4 - more friendly reputation and maybe /6 or /8 as easy reputation it hadn´t to be bad. I will watch how my reputaion evolves further with my using /4. Anyway there is no problem for me to put this line into the program after any new installation.
But on the other hand there is less occasions for improving one´s reputation because the bands and raping of girls dissappeared from the daily jungle and I think it´s a pity. It was funny. Furthermore in many cases bandits now don´t want to fight and they change their opinion what about fight concerns. Even though hero say something like "I will not finish with you yet" instead bandits to be provoked by that they stand and stand and do nothing. Are they such cowards when I am alone and they are 4 or 5 of them? I could butcher them but my reputaion would probabdly sank to the very bottom again. I think daily jungle was dangerous and outlying enough for that reason it wasn´t nothing strange there were some bandits. And raping only in the night jungle? What girl would walk across the night jungle where are some strange Indians and skeleton monkeys ? The jungle should be dangerous even for those bandits by nights especially for bandits that surrender so easy now.
But I don´t know what to do about my hostility relations with Brits. I really would like to know what causes that. I paid already two times - altogether 5 million of gold to Diplomat at Conceicao and I had to try as much as possible to retrieve my money back somehow ( but by no looting or steeling) but now Diplomat offers me only French settling of relations not with Brits. Maybe I will be trying again. I am curious whether anybody will be having several problems with it as I have. I never have any problem with it in the past.

And what about my objection against chasing ships concerns. All it was caused by default setting the "real sailing" in BuildSettings.h <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> which seems to me almost mischievously unreal and I never will be using it anymore. When I switched off this option all chasing became normal again. I hope you won´t plan to cancel this option. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I told you before: They haven't disappeared. They only appear during evenings, but they're not gone. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

Pieter, I wrote disappeared from the daily jungle. A know they are by nightfall and by night. But anyway it seems to me they appear less frequently now. I ran to and fro by all nights through jungles for the reason my reputation would increase. Maybe my impression was caused by lower aggressivity of these bandits. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

RE reploss

As long as I am here there were always occaisonal reports on drastic reploss. Some people have them sometimes, most don't.

We could never find the reason becasue, as Hook said, something you did without noticing during the game may damage your rep (sometimes later in the game). So the bugreports give no hint to the actual cause.

Maybe it would help to add a "Trace" command to the "change characterRep" function that would log time, location and amount of each reploss in the errorlog. That would at least give an indication what gameplay action cound be the cause.

Hi, Charles. It´s a good that you appeared here after some time again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thanks <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> I wish it could be more often.

Charles, when we are communcating here now I can tell you I think it´s a pity Hosehead completely disappeared from Ellaybe scene and modding of Sea Dogs wasn´t finished because ot this big crash that appeared after many hours of playing and nobody including Hose was able resolve it. If it would work fine it be woud be realy great mod. What do you think? Did you abandon Sead Dogs modding forever already? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Yes, I am also very sorry that we have "lost" Hose. Hope he is fine and has "only" lost interest.

I won't do anything for SD anymore. I even don't have enough time for ONE game, let alone two. And PotC with its landaction and open code simply offers more possibilities for the things that I like to mod.

Though SD in the modded version sureley excelled in quests and storytelling.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" /> Looks like you're fighting a duell here!!
In the Characters_init.c file is a line stating
ch.reputation = "50"; change this to "80"
the first one is of course neutral and second is Hero!
Please note that 80 is the top choice and gaps are importent
....and you have to start a new game!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

Nosie, thank you again but I don´t want to start as a hero I only want so as the game would work as it is supposed to be. I used some code - line that I added into the reputation´s file section and it works the way the game is playable for me. And impacts of "allegedly" bad deeds which were never considered as so bad in the past are reduced in my game now. Although I am still only Bloody Terror it´s sufficient for me. I have played this game from its beginning and with many older Builds that were made up by Nathan Kell yet. Some matters are better now but some things was better in the past. New modders - new ideas and their endeavour to enforce ones owns ideas into the game - sometimes unfortunately very unhappy. All the time I have tried to tell Nathan Kell and now Pieter ,if something in game or Build is good and work fine, please, let it be and don´t change it anymore, but it seems to me that it is as the fight with the windmills. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cold.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":brr" border="0" alt="cold.gif" />

We do our very best to make sure that the modding work goes into the direction of IMPROVING the game. I really don't want to add things that make the game less good. If anything gets in that does cause gameplay issues, then it is not intentional at all. However, most of the time we don't know how to fix it either. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

If you enable the cheatmode in BuildSettings.h, you can press the Numpad 7 button to increase your reputation again. No new game required. This is useful if your reputation keeps dropping without any obvious reason. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

I hope we will some day find the reason for these reputation drops. Please believe me when I say again that they are not intentional. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

There was a problem that I found and fixed where it was never marked that you'd paid a loan back to the loanshark, so you'd take the -20 reputation hit as soon as the original loan was supposed to go overdue, even if you had paid it back. That should no longer be happening.

There may be an additional problem where the overdue date is not being calculated correctly. I once got a loan from the loanshark immediately before dividing the plunder, and when the "2 months" had elapsed after dividing the plunder I was overdue on the loan. This character may have had only 2 months to pay back the loan, so I don't know if it's an error in the calculations.

Has anyone been around long enough to know why the reputation changes were doubled in the code? This doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. I know this was done some time before build 12, but I don't have any versions of the code between the stock game and build 12, so I don't know exactly when this was done. If we keep the reputation doubling, we should at least put a buildsettings.h toggle on it so it can be turned off. I suspect the doubleing code was put in because of the problem with the loanshark code.

Hook

I don't know about the doubling. I wasn't around then. But Build 11 is available from the main PA! site. Or it was last time I checked.

I have 10 and 11 if needed.

I lost 9 though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

Look in CharacterUtilitie.c in the ChangeCharacterReputation() function and see if it has the line "incr *= 2". That's what did the doubling.
