When you hit f2 to get to the character screen use the up and down arrow on the keyboard it should work that way.

If you want to prevent the armour from showing, there ARE better ways than removing the texture and making the model gray.
For example, replacing the "9Jc_A1", "9Jc,A2" and "9Jc_A3" GM files in RESOURCE\MODELS\Characters with the original "9Jc" one.

Had the same problem and after asking Pieter and than fiddle a bit I came to this:
Go to your main carracter press the arrow down key and than use the space key!
To do the officers go to the main carracter press the arrow down key then go to the
officer screen and do your thing with space! Hope this was not to complicated <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerbz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nerbz" border="0" alt="nerbz.gif" />

I think there's a fix for that non-"Auto Skill System" issue in Pirate_KK's game files, so sooner or later that'll make it into Alpha 1o. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
Thanks for that log; it had the WMV-file error I want to check, so I think I have just fixed that one. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

You get that error sometimes when you transfer to a captured ship. It's likely that the boxsize isn't getting transferred properly when you do this and the game engine blows up. It's always safest to transfer ships when you're on land, preferably when you can't see the sea.

Well the game fixed itself after a rather big number of crashes and I was able to sail freely. Now however it refuses to get to date 06.06.1691 no matter what. If I spend it in the tavern or at sea it gives me a crash to desktop upon the time of change. Any ideas?

Somehow doesn't make sense to me! Crashes happen during fighting trying to capture the ship down below or on deck!
You get no chance to even get near land <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
 
If you're anywhere on a ship, the sea is still active. If you're at port, the sea is active. You have to go inside a building on the port (I think this works) or go away from the port for the sea to be inactive. If the sea is active, transferring ships has a chance of crashing.

hey guys,

just found my old copy of PotC a few days ago and reinstalled it on my machine. of course straight away i proceeded to the newest build, patch 2, following all the instructions. no problems, i was able to enjoy two days of relatively crash free gameplay.

that is until today. i've started ctd at the specific time. first i was able to recover from it for a while when going to a really old save. but now, every time the clock ( i am playing main quest line, if that's any difference) hits 10/08/16xx i crash to desktop.
this happens no matter where i am and what i do, as in, sea, tavern, waiting for shopkeeper to unload/load my ship etc.

most of the times i don't even get the error log, but when i do it's this:

If he's always crashing on the same date, would it be quest related? Why would he get errors in monks.c?

Did you get a cross from one of the monks?

i've managed to find a problem by thinking logically, since i've no idea about modding. turns out i sold a good Nicholas Sharpe blade to one of the merchants and so it was crashing when updating their inventories. so still, it had something to do with unique weapons (doesn't seem to work very well in my game, had about 5 Nicholas' swords drop so far, now i know better than to pick them up <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> )

thanks for help regardless, you guys are absolutely great. the game is pretty much 400% better than vanilla PotC!

PS another small bug i managed to find: an escort mission from Jamaica to Eur(spelling) which took about a minute paid me 2 million gold and tons of commerce experience (enough for me to level twice)... i reverted after testing it but it would definitely be somewhat unbalancing. other escort traders missions that i got were from Bridegetown to... Bridgetown but at least the reward was proportionally small.
 
That's interesting about selling that Nicholas Sharp blade! I wonder if other people have been doing that too to cause the CTDs.

No I haven't, though I have sold the nicolas sharp blade from the douwesen quest (I haven't encountered any other time)

I manage to pass the day only after I abused autotravel.
Another bug is at Mateus Santos, I decided to kill his last assignement who infomed me that Saonts would try to kill me. He did try, but I couldn't kill him or anyone of his mates (no HP over their heads).

Suddenly I'm thinking... maybe random enemies get a random blade regardless of any other limits on those blades.

They don't. There's a function that searches for a suitable blade for that character's level (which works with non-quality blades) and if it doesn't find one it assigns a random low level blade. It shouldn't be assigning really rare blades.
