Build 11 Leveling freak out!

Hi,

I have been playing 11 for awhile now and decided it was time to switch to swashbuckler.

My level was 41. Went to sea to hunt pirates. After boarding 5 pirate ships(3 with deck to deck battles), I made landfall sporting a level of 67!

I gained 26 levels on swashbuckler from only 5 pirate ships!

BTW:

The one Pirate Captain I did manage to capture had a level of 178. Could it have been the wide difference in levels that cuased such a crazy level gain?

Also:

Almost every enemy you fight on swashbuckle (from lvl41) gives you the same weapons. Fine Bosuns Choice and a Fine Dual barreled Pistol.

Most probably, yes. If you defeat someone who is on a higher level than you, the points you gain are measurably higher than if you'd defeated someone on your own level or less than your own level.
