<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> aye, the shynava's a sweedish or danish(i forget which really <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> )
sea rover. they had it over in seadogs. was good raider. brill for slicing into them slow-moving merchie convoys hurhur... though really fragile though.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Though the ships are different style (the lugger looks more like a PotC Barque, and things like that)

Shynava, Swedish? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

Well, I'm from Sweden and I never heard that word before. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Odd spelling too. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

But then, if it is something old and with <i>roots</i> for the design in Sweden, then I can understand it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> It do sounds to me like an Eastern European name for that type of ship - no Swede would know how to pronounce or spell that word... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

Probably a Russian translation of a Swedish name. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Could very well be that, Cat. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> And even though the name may not be Swedish it is nice to see a ship from Sweden in there!

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> right back at ya! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Heheh, I <i>am</i> in U.K. right now, but we're moving back to Sweden soon. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Once the move is done I will update it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Sweden? Oh, polarbears in the streets, Vikings in the fjords, that sort of thing... Not! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />
Hmm, well, Sweden goes from the northern tip of U.K. to the height of Alaska, as it is a rather elongated country, <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" /> and we have got hot summers and cold winters. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cold.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":brr" border="0" alt="cold.gif" />

More than half of it is covered in mostly pine/spruce forest (and birch in the south) and we got elk (moose to you in US), deer, doe, wolf, bear, lynx, wolverines and so on running about there. Only one poisonous snake, and it can only kill an adult by shocking them to death over being bitten - <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> - unless you are allergic - small children are still in danger though. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Nothing else poisonous about. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Also, about 1/8th of the population lives in Stockholm ("the most beautiful capital in the world" as it is "known" as) - and we only got 9,000,000 people in the whole country! Size is roughly like New Zealand though, so yes, we are spread out, heh. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

That's a quick summary anyway. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/william.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":will" border="0" alt="william.gif" />

I've seen some really great looking photos of Stockholm, and would love to visit there someday! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Those ships look cool!!

The patchwork ships were admirably stitched together--and in the case of some reskinned--by JMV.
(the cutter, the 16 & 20 gun brigs, and the two new schooners).

The Shnyavas and the Brigantine[fn1] are from the A&M mod.
Shnyava--dunno where that name came from (as above, Seadogs says Sweden but we have Expert Testimony to the contrary <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ); the rig is known (here--that is, in the US and presumably UK too) as a Snow, a variation of the brig (rigged like a brig, but the spanker [fore-and-aft sail on the mainmast] is bent to a separate small mizzen tied to the mainmast).

[fn1] Sometimes also called a hermaphrodite brig. I do not now recall the difference between the two terms, if there is any; but it's possible in one case she is rigged like you see (and I _think_ that's called 'brigantine') and in the other has a fore-and-aft rigged forsail rather than the staysails you see there, i.e. a topsail schooner with a square fore course [lowest square sail] too.

Argh, where's JMV when you need him? :\

(Heh, and not everyone agrees on the terms either....)
