As for the other stuff, I'm not sure. I'm just about at that point in my testing, will go bang on the game a bit to see if I can get the same problem.

1. Yeah, that can be done. It just takes time, and adding new pictures for the new calibers. I believe someone was working on it, though whom I do not now recall.

2. It's a snow with two mainmasts but one maintopmast. Weird rig. Swedish, I believe.

I had it `mis-spelled`, which explains my lack of ability to find anything on it...once I spelled it right, it was all there to be found.

From the moment I got POTC I kinda wondered about the choices of cannon calibers...12 and especially 16 weren't really common.

Sorry to talk back to your ship nomination Iross, but for all that a know a KEtch have a main sail in square rig on the main mast. The War schooner is more a Clipper of Baltimore or, to be historically right, a "American schooner" ... I know the real name in french but haven't found a synonym in englis...

Anyway, it's just a question of name...

But, maybe, as Iross said, if somebody can tune the type of cannon and the speed of those ships ...

The trouble with historical names of shiptypes is that they weren't written in stone. There were huge variations in design depending on time and region. So the Baltic Shnyava stems FAIK from the Hanseatic Schnigge and developed into the New England Snow. small wonder that Akella had trouble to depict shiptypes "accurately".

In this case we are both half right...if you look at the war schooner model, it definitely has a taller forward mast, which rules out a schooner, however, you're right that ketches usually have a square mainsail, but they also have a gaff sail rigged on the mainmast. See <a href="http://www.theroyaliste.com" target="_blank">http://www.theroyaliste.com</a> for some good photos. So what we appear to have with the war schooner is a schooner with it's masts, but not it's topsails switched...or a ketch that's missing a sail.

CCC, you are, as usual, also quite correct about the wide variation in ship types and rigs.

Never having done any modding myself...how hard is it to change ship stats...the Light Frigate is driving me nuts...heavier guns, and a heavier hull than the normal frigate. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> There is something wrong with that.

Hey, could I trouble someone for a rough time estimate on v12? Is it days away from the sweetness of completion? Weeks? Months? Hours?

I assume that v11 savegames would be no good in the v12, correct?

Actually, b11 saves /will/ work after a reinit.

But you can get a headstart by downloading the beta of b12 (b11.99), which is basically b12 without a few tweaks and the readme I believe.
