Build 13 bug!

Darth-me

Landlubber
Hi,

At first I thought it was bothing, but i've decided that build 13 is the reason my game periodically crashes, eg.

1) I was ordered by redmond governor to sink a pirate, I do, the captain of the ship gives me £150,000, and then when I get to port it's night, and when I go o tavern it crashes when I wan't to sleep there. I try going to the world map for the night, but when I go to world map it crashes. I had to load my previous game, when I boarded th enemy, this time he only gave me £6,000. Occasionally the tavern sleeping thing happens, but every other time I re-load and it works fine.

2&3) I go out and plunder a group of dutch/french merchants. I spend forever organising my goods, and I could become massively rich. I go to world map and save instantly, just in case. I exit the menu and the game crashes. Every time I load it does the same, crashes after 1 second.

Any help? Really sorry.

the game always crashes at midnight when you have a full hold. try looking into that. you could also try staying in the tavern first.

And I wouldn't go as far as saying Build 13 is bug-free. No game is completely bug-free. It's just getting it to a point that it's playable without too many weirdness occurring. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

did you happen to read my log yet? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> that's pretty wierd, i'd say. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Too much text, too little time. Especially last week. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

true, but i think the ship swap bug when swapping ships at sea was extremely wierd. the stats switched, but the ships didn't. it resulted in having a rocket fleut! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> the bug dissapeared after a ship encounter.

I actually understand that one. Doesn't surprise me one bit. Not sure how to fix it though.

Ehm; I wouldn't opt for that one. The problem is that the ships are only swapped properly after a full reload of the scene by going to land, worldmap or a DirectSail ship encounter. But apprently the ship stats are already swapped straight away. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

Being able to swap ships at sea is a realistic addition to the mods.
Years ago, when this feature was first added, the game would crash completely.
Since being improved, in Build 12. 1 or early post Build 12 I think, that particular bug (partially updated stats) has been with us for a long time, but is not a game killer.

I don't think punishing the player by not allowing him to swap ships, just because some of the stats don't carry over until a scene change, is nice at all.

I recall that ship swapping was instantaneous in Build 12.1 provided that it was done with the ship-to-ship transfer screen you open with F3 when a friendly ship is near. That would be better. Not sure how to restore that functionality though. I don't even know why it disappeared. Or wasn't it ever there and I just made it up? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

as it is now, you can swap ships in the transfer menu by going near your officers ship and pressing transfer goods in the enter menu, or by pressing F3. there you can choose to swap ships. however, at the moment it's more of a cheat. for instance, you could take a fast schooner with you for the final battle, sail in your manowar yourself, swap ships, and then have a manowar which can do rediculous speeds.

i haven't the faintest idea. i didn't try it. i think that because the cannons themselves haven't swapped, the damage shouldn't swap either. and the registered amount of cannons on the ship remained the same, as well as the amount of crew, i think.

just a quick note, no game is bug free no matter how many time you try to de-bug it, at least one always slip past

Very true. I think it's mostly just damage control. Trying to get the major bugs sorted out so that the game is as playable as can be. But there will always be unintentional weird stuff. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
