Build 14 A 7 Problems and Bugs

believe it or not, i hardly ever buy anything. i always put it as a goal for myself that i only capture and steal anything i need. the only thing i buy is, you guessed it, better cannons. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> and rations, for the record, as i don't pray on traders very often. i'd recommend simply doing something really bold, like boarding a corvette with a sloop or something like that. it's actually possible to pull it off. besides, those ships usually have the best or second best caliber already installed on them. you can also try to board a pirate ship better than yours, and exchange the cannons. you need to miss at least one cannon on each side to do that though. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

every time I try to change cannons it says that it's not going to change the caliber of my cannons up, unless it's a lower caliber then it says it will change the caliber down.

and yeh, I've easily taken down the pirate corvette in a sloop or vml. however. pirates didn't sail around in corvettes >.> they used sloops =D I actually make a habbit of not attacking the navy as much as possible. I sail away from em, attack as nessisary, course annoying lil sloops or cutters or schooners I blow up but normally just sail away from em. I attack specifically traders. capture me 2-3 galleons, then re arrange thee stuff so that I got one of them that has lots of room, and then attack a bunch of smaller stuff and fill up that third galleon or caravel or pinnace with that stuff and then when my holds ar burstin with swag I just sail on home.

so..yer saying if I'm missing a cannon on either side and I stick higher caliber cannons on there i actually will get all my cannons upgraded?

btw right with ya on stealing pretty much everything, but I didn't want to steal another pirate's ship and mess up my reputation with them out of fear of that bug I had wehre I got attacked by every pirate in any pirate colony and forced me to constantly deprive said colonies of human life. it's just not what I want my character to be doing >.>

well, they only get upgraded, for as far as i know, if more than half of them are replaced by a different caliber. but i'm not entirely sure. what i think you can do is when there's a single cannon busted on both ships, you can keep on exchanging them until all the cannons are swapped. by i actually doubt it's possible. what you could do is put as many of your cannons on the enemy vessel with a higher caliber of cannons as you can, and then place all the cannons you need back on your ship. this will work, because i think the shifted cannon's caliber get's changed to the one of the greatest amount of cannons on the ship you shift it to. confusing? i wouldn't be surprised. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> as long as the amount of cannons you place back on your ship is more than half of the capacity of your cannons, your caliber will automatically change. i tried this once, and it worked. you get a warning message that the caliber will change when you've shifted enough cannons.

note: this will only work if the enemy ship has more cannons than your ship. otherwise, the cannons you shift to the enemy vessel will cause the enemy's cannon's caliber to drop to the caliber of your own cannons, because you need to shift so many of them.

BTW: i'd recommend reading almost every sentence twice in this text. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Somebody found a bug in the new interface with the buy cannons interface. Try switching to the other interface and see what happens. I do have a possible fix for that particular bug, but nobody confirmed if it works and it sounds like you have something different. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

How did you install your game? Sounds like you have a somewhat oddish game version. I checked the cannons interface just recently and it worked just fine. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

installed it the same way ya install any program I suppose, via the installation wizard. as far as the mods, I installed them exactly as the directions specified I do so.

14.7 but yeh started with build 13, put in it's lil expansion thingy, then 14.6 and 14.7

btw I dont think the cannons are muted on the ships when yer in 3d, I think they're just really quiet. too quiet >.> rightfully they should be the loudest things in the game. should be another thing for 14.8.

So you're running Alpha 7 now? There is something wrong with the cannons interface there, but only in the new interface. You can try if <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=10951&view=findpost&p=214022" target="_blank">this</a> does any good.
