Build 14 Alpha Work in Progress

The most stable Alpha version still seems to be Alpha 6, released over half a year ago. Progress has been slow the last many months. We are up to Alpha 7 Plus right now, but that isn't all that stable either. Alpha 8 is in the works, but so far we have been unable to get it finished and stabilized yet. My personal game version including everything I have been able to lay my hands on is downright crappy with random freezes and crashes and stuff. Can't be released just yet.

Been here a while back, but stopped playing, and I'm back again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
I installed 14 Alpha 6, and came by some sort of bug, it's probably already reported, but just in case...

When I board a ship and the fighting is done, I've come by 2 problems in 2 different boardings, fairly fast after each other. I think they're related.
The first:
When I tried to take the gear from the killed soldiers, or open any cases, the 'hand' icon would be on the screen for like a millisecond and then disappear, I didn't manage to press the action key on it. Looting was impossible. However I could go to the next room, and continue boarding.
The second:
Looting and opening cases was possible this time, however when I finished checking everything, and wanted to go to the next stage of boarding, it wasn't possible. Usually I use the tool that I have under the spacebar (I don't know what it's called, but it's used to open doors and talk with people), but nothing happened, there also wasn't any tool under the 'action menu' (the one when pressing enter, which shows a little icon menu in the left bottom of the screen).

Is there any information about this?

Thanks!

never seen that before. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> at first glance, it would seem that your locators for the chests during boarding are REALLY small. there is a way to check that, but i've forgotten how. you should make the locators visible with some kind of setting.

Ah, that makes sense, but then it has to do with the building of the locators. Are the size of those locaters variable?
And is there any way to force the option to be able to go to the next boarding stage? That would be great, it's a pity that I can't loot the guys, but it really sucks if I'm stuck on the deck after quite some time of shooting the guy with a few slow ships :p

well, you could never loot during boarding. i'm not that much of a programmer, so i'm not that much help here. i found the setting you need to check it with. it's the very last setting in internalsettings.h, which you can find in the PROGRAM directory.

Nah - those are old bugs. I've <a href="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=10552&view=findpost&p=199087" target="_blank">encountered them myself</a> as well.

It's not related to locators, but if you DO want to make them visible, the option is at the bottom of PROGRAM\InternalSettings.h.

i just said so! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

But anyway... I don't think we need this thread stickied anymore. Horribly outdated.
