Where is the new bug tracker?

First of all, wonderful game! I can tell you guys have really been working on the bugs, expecially when you compare this one with alpha 8. Nonetheless, I have a few buggy-wugs. I will be honest; I havnt looked through all the other bug posts, as indeed I am sure many encompass what I have here. However, here are the ones ive experienced so far. Ive been playing the Original Nathaniel storyline on 14 alpha 9.5, with a few controls and settings tweaked but to any great extent. My graphics settings are high textures, 1024x768 32bit windowed on an nvid GF 6100 card and its installed on top of an build 13 full, installed as instructed.

And so, I am heartily sorry if any of these have already been reported; I understand how annoying that can be but these are the only ones ive found so far; which isn't bad for an alpha;)

Problem the first: Merchants you accept in the pub (or 'tavern' if you want to be American;) always want to be escorted to the island they are already on. I.e, greenford to greenford. Go to docks and the quest ends and you get money. Eaaasy money. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> Surely this isn't right?

Problem the second: Horrific lag on firing; worse than in alpha 8. Drops about 2 frames per cannon; so if you are broadsiding with lugger, the drop is about 8fps which, lets face it, isn't good if your average rate is 16-19fps, as indeed mine is. Nonetheless, the weirdest thing about this is that it does it regardless of my graphics settings; whether its 640x480 or 1280x1024, it still does it to the same extent. The faster the firing, the greater the fall. Muzzle flair seems to be the thing doing it, though build 13 was fine. (Though as I mentioned in the old bugtracker, this could just be my graphics card feeling tipsy. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I highlight this problemo above all because it really does reduce enjoyment and become off-putting when playing the mod; especially if you have an ageing machine of 2 years or over, as indeed I do.

Problem the third: No town or port names on any island, just hash signs and 'stown' in middle.

Problem the fourth: English Barmaids have no texture; are grey 'ghosts'.

Problem the Fifth: Emblemed sails don't work with player vessel; all buildsettings options and advanced settings saying they should be.

Problem the Sixth: Certain doors don't open at all in Jack Sparrow quest. (though no doors necessary for completing missions seem to be affected; and they are only in certain towns, all of them the new ones like port au prince and cayman)

Problem the seventh: Complete game crash on sea from deck loading screen if lot of cargo is dealt with beforehand. (Would the midnight crash in b13 be linked with this?)

Problem the eighth: Complete Game freeze when governor tells you he has a ship he wants sunk on any island and any governor.

Problem the ninth: I visited a tailor but did not buy anything. Now, almost every single other person is the same as me (Nathaniel's brown outfit). Barmaids, landlords and other public servicemen seem to be the only ones disaffected.

Problem the tenth: Quest book doesn't' scroll down much; oxbay quest doesn't move at all.

Problem the eleventh: As much as I'm all for peace, no-one ever goes to war! It's a permanent peace between all factions! At the beginning it was like normal, but the all countries changed to peace and now there are no battles unless I start them! It's been 20 years now. In fact, now I think about it, this probably explains problem the eighth. l Surely this isn't right!

In summary, it looks like theres something wrong with my nations relations; they just seem 'frozen'; this may be causing quite a few of these other problems and if im the only one getting them then it must be how I installed as I don't recall having any prob with the relations before I installed 9.5 patch. As Pieter can vouch, I didn't exactly have a walk in a park downloading this thing.

The new Bug Tracker is <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?showforum=38" target="_blank">right here</a>.

Many of the problems you report sound like an installation problem of some kind.

1st problem: Confirmed and apparently caused by me in an attempt to solve another problem. Needs to be looked into.

2nd problem: We had fixed the Alpha 8 firing lag, so I do not understand why you still have it.
The only lag I know is still in the game is the lag when you walk over a lootable corpse.

3rd problem: Don't know why that's happening; they show up fine for me. Installation error?

4th problem: Which town is that? They appear quite fine to me and this suggests missing files caused by installation problems.

5th problem: Did you try setting your sails through F2>Ship>Sails>Choose Sails?

6th problem: Which doors are those? There have always been closed doors in the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

7th problem: Midnight crash was fixed.

8th problem: Installation problem again? Hook has been fixing many bugs and I know he's been playing pirate hunting quests a lot.
I cannot believe that he would've missed THAT! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

9th problem: How did you manage THAT??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

10th: Have you tried the up and down arrow keys?

11th problem: There is a mod that makes nation relations change, but the chances for ALL nations going friendly with each other sound remote.
Still, I can't rule out that this could happen. You might want to disable the "Changing Relations" mod.
We might want to recode that from random changes to historically correct changes anyway.

thanks for the fast reply, pieter.
Ok thanks; if i get any constant errors il be sure to put them in there <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

1: Fair enough.

2:yeah; as I say, though, it might still be there just you guys use poweful machines so it doesn't show so much. Though i guess its my fault i have a crap computer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />o)

3: Must be an installation error. Its only forts and ports; shores are fine. And i worded it wrong; i meant the 'sail to' menu doesnt show them correctly; on the map thyre fine.

4: Greenford, Cayman, Antigua and redmond.

5: There isnt even the option to have emblemed sails in the sail menu. Is this right? Yes I have tried setting sail in pretty much every way i can think of.

6: Again, its only really caymen which seems affected by these. they are mainly house and town wall doors.

7: aye; but this happens at any time during the day, no matter where you are or what your situation is.

8:Nope: this ones a definite. I thought this could be linked with all nations being peaceful though, as there are no hostile nations, thus no hostile ships to be sunk so the game gets confused?

9:heh: not sure really. But its there and staying.

10: Yep.

11: This, i think, is the biggie; in the beginning everything was normal, but as is ay, theres no war in the carbbean and ive tried starting many new games and everytime it does the same thing. On jack sparrow, its immediete.

As you say, it is probbaly an install error; the b13 i installed on top of has been hanging around for a few years. should I do a completely clean install? When i ran the batch file, there were a lot of 'cannot find specified file' codes going up. Could this be the missing files?

I like your funny pics on the main page btw, pieter! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

2. There's many people here who don't have the best computers. The laptop I'm using isn't exactly "powerhouse" either.

5. Should be; if you click on your sails icon in the Ship menu, there should appear some buttons at the bottom of the screen.
One of them allows you to select your sails.

6. There's just not (m?)any regular open houses in Cayman. The city gate should be open though! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

8. There's still the pirates; they're not friendly TOO are they?

11. Never heard this one before in all the months Alpha 9 has been released. Try to turning off Random Relations and see what happens.

Those funny pictures have been on this forum for half a week already. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

Heh well to be honest i normally come straight to the forum;)

Aye; ive reinstalled cleanly and the relations thing seems to have cleared up, cleaning the governor missions with it. Yeah pirates were friendly just like all the other nations. It was weird! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> The sails are still screwed though; in 13 there was the emblem option but in this one theres only the four at the top end of the screen and the bottom one ('plain') is the one I ssume you use for emblems. Well, its always greyed out for some reason no matter what type of sails im using.

I said... the funny pictures have been ON THE FORUM for half a week already.
See here: <a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=&showtopic=12054&view=findpost&p=320413" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net//index.php?s=...st&p=320413</a> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Emblems only work on bigger ships. What ship are you trying them on?

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Has anyone had any porblem with the treasure quests in 9.5? I found the treasure in Barbados Jungle but when I walked over the hide, it clicked and disappered with out opening.

I am finding 9.5 very stable and playing pretty well.

The locators seem to be infinitely small and even Screwface, who originally made the mod, doesn't know what's going on.
You have to walk backward and forward and pressing F3 all the time to try and manage to open the thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
