I finished this game once months ago, and I thought to finish this great game again, so I've started a new game today, but I've seen here about b12, and I've placed it, but I have the same problems as harryhoho, about the keys... yes, defaults, and remap, it works, but if I press "I" to reininitialize.... always crash with an error on engine.exe, either on the menu as the game loads, or after loading the saved game, always the same, so I cannot reinitialize, and if not, as soon as I travel to the port... again error, could you help me??

Maybe the problem is that I've instaled the EURO version fix, and I dont really know if this is the euro version or not. Thx in advance.

PS: I post yesterday this topic as a replay, but like I see that you always answer in minutes and no answer yet and there is no way I can play this game this way, I've thought about placing it as a new topic, also I added some new info, maybe this way you see it, sorry if this is forbidden or so <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
 
News on the issue..... reinstalled build12 without marking EURO fix, the same problem, so I've unistalled build12, and now I cannot load the game, engine.exe crash while loading storm engine2. So now I'm uninstalling the whole game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> .Let's see If I can get it working, If not, I'll buy an EURO version of the game, I really want to use the build12!!!
 
If you own a version, where in programdialogs folder a subfolder, named after your language within files for your language, is located you've got an EURO version. (i assume that, because you seem to live in spain)
I suggest to install build11 first, with EURO marking, and after that build12(without EURO marking).

Well, I've checked that directory under the game dir and there is nothing but .h files, so no folders, so US version I think. I dont know where I get this game.

Anyway, if its the us version..... why doesnt work normally now that I've reinstalled it and placed the build12 without EURO fix?? Should I install the build11 first?? I'm gonna by the spanish version of the game next week anyway, the voices are still in english, but now has a price of 19,95eu <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> Maybe then I could try your way... If not... I'll finish it again without any build, but it would be a shame cause it seems to be a really great mod!
 
Yes, i suggest to install build 11 (without EURO marking) in top of plain PotC because it may be not nesessary but its definitivly not wrong. After that put build 12 in top of this (without EURO markings too) and dont forget to switch online updates to on to get latest fixes.

If then are caused errors make sure that following lines are in your engine.ini :
tracefilesoff = 0
[script]
debuginfo = 1
codefiles = 1
runtimelog = 1
Then run the game until the action is performed which causes the error, close the game and post system.log, error.log and compile.log here.
 
I have problems before even trying to load the game, lets see.... first, I cannot download build11, from the downloads page, I go to a page that redirects me to the download page, but this is what I get: <a href="https://build.piratesahoy.net:19638/webhost/rollout/site" target="_blank">https://build.piratesahoy.net:19638/webhost...st/rollout/site</a> then I cannot download anything, seems a control panel of the domain.

Also when I was trying to reinstall it yesterday I got a CRC error on the secondCD, so I've just done an image of it and I'm reinstalling it from the HD, I'll try build 12 without EURO and with updates and check the code, if it doesnt work.... I'll post the files log here. But as I've said, without Build 11 first.

lets see emrep, I've installed the game, as I told before, only build12, without EURO fix, only textures, and update. Doesnt work, checked the lines in engine.ini, were bad, I've fixed it, but still doesnt work <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Ah! the error is given when I try to initialize the game pressing "I", a few time on black screen reading from the HD, then the engine.exe crash. Also I get that error from a save game from the game without build12, in the tavern of oxbay, when I try to go to the port, also crash, initiliazing in the game, also like the menu.

The lines in engine.ini should not fix something, but it makes sure that the logfiles will be written. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
But i cant see anything that is logged that causes crashes. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />
If i understood right, the savegame isnt from build11?
I remember that Nathan managed to play build12 with savegames from build 11, but i dont think that it works for savegames of other installs too. But something is wrong, if the HD 'rödels' that indicates that Potc searches some file or that many entrys are written into the logfiles. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Have you ever tried to start a new game with build12?
It would be nice if you could post error.log from new game.

It works now! I've started a new game, and works. I thought that it wasnt working wihtout trying to play a new game cause I'm suppossed to reinitialize the game, and then is when the game crashes, but without pressing "I", all fine. Thx for the help

Thx you all!! this is a great game, but with this mod..... it's even better!! I've been at akella's site, and I dont see anything about Age of Pirates, but I've seen Captain Blood, this game seems to be quite good also, but... too adventure I think, not so freedom like on Pirates of the Caribbean, at least for what I can see on the description, but I cant wait to put my hands over this Age of Pirates!!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Ah! I had another crash, two times, in naval battles, when I enter the menu (F2) to change passengers to board or to navigate, sometimes, when I click esc, black screen, then engine.exe crash, hmmm, If I get this again.... I'll post the logs, or... maybe were created on the last crash yesterday, let me know, and I'll post them
