Button up! Or is is down? ... and out?

HawkerT

Sailor Apprentice
Storm Modder
Ahoy there me hearteys ... a merry cristmas for ye and yer ilk!

Exiting build times this is! Looking much forward to updates am I!

While getting ready to play for real I have been going through the documentation and be wondering about a thing or two.

1) The <b>'Additional'</b> button found in the lower right corner of the Interface Change screen (under Options) ... is it intentionally left there with no purpose (read: nothing happens when pressing said button, neither in build 13 nor build 14) or is something not right with this aspiring pirates ability to install the mother of all builds?

2) In the Build 12 documentation there be much yapping bout' a nice lil' feature ... the ability to press F5 and F9 to quick save and quick load respectively. Apparantly a mod by Sir DChaley. Why is this little 'nice2have' not in Build 13+ ? Or are we once again witnessing the inability for this pirate wannabe to handle even the simplest of installation instructions?

All the best

you're a kinda topic-titel-humour fella, aren't you? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> something i'd like to know in addition to the two above questions: what does the animations button do?

There ye go again Sir Terror (of the Morgan kind that is!)

... making me all warm at heart and easy at mind. For ye using the word humour, grateful am I <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Now about that mentioning of animations ... i reckon ye be meening them fine pair of buttons labelled <b>'Animations ON'</b> and <b>'Animations OFF'</b> on the Interface Change screen under Options, right? A valid question Sir Terror (of the Morgan kind ), a valid question indeed!

All the best
Frans

im not too sure about your question, HawkerT, but i am fairly certain that the Animations button is actually something to do with Particles, since i remember going to the Maltese Abbey once with it off, and finding the particle purple light effect that formed around the Knights when they were killed the first time, wasn't working [the Knight would fall to the floor, and a skelly would spawn in the same place, without the "effects"]. another time i went there, maybe about a month afterwards, i had the Animations on, and things worked properly, the particles were there, and things worked normally...

i could be wrong. it's just a little something i remember. it may or may not be because of the Animations buttons...

i also want to know about the Additional button....curiosity is killing me!

Well, I can't help you with question 1, but the reason quick save is not working is because it caused all kinds of problems when it was enabled, the game became pretty unstable from what I can recall. It was then disabled until someone could figure it out, but no one has yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I have a new Build 14 Alpha update ready that I'll try to release today. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

It is left in with no purpose. Nothing to worry about. :noThe idea is that eventually you will be able to change the game's settings with that button, but we haven't really done much with that idea for a while.

That mod has been turned off because it didn't seem to work right. It caused bugs. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

That has an effect on the new brown interface. Some interface screens, such as the "sail ho" screen, have animated backgrounds and you can turn the animation off with that button. Some people didn't like the animated backgrounds, so we made it possible to turn them off.

i really don't know what to say of this... looks like i've earned myself a new title! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> did you really have to wright that down? you didn't really help you know. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> anyway, it's stuff like this that makes the piratehideout such a nice place. why not bring it here?

i'm gonna try that button out! i recall a situation i once had where i built something with lots of buttons and levers on it, and operating these in the wrong way could destroy the thing i had made. unfortunatly, i had forgotten what the buttons and levers where for. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> you have no idea how nerve-wracking it is to try and figure it out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
