Can we make new locations??

<!--`QuoteBegin-Suraknar`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Suraknar)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I have been blatantly backstabbed, used, and consequently insulted here before.[/quote]Well, if it was when I was a moderator, I certainly didn't see it, or I'd have stopped it immediately. We don't allow that kind of thing here, and it's been pretty peaceful around here, thankfully.

If there's been a problem with a specific person, or incident, please let me know, so I can take care of it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Such things may happen in every public forum, and even in certain private ones.

I my case have suffered a lot more abuse on OTHER forums, but that 's no reason for me to scorn a complete community.

Well, thank you,

Yes it was prior to you becoming a Moderator Catalina.

And I agree with CCC and Inez, and really I just expressed that to have a common point of reference here, but I really am not here to open old wounds.

So there is certaintly something good hapening here, and as thus, I think we can build on it, so lets continue and see where it takes us. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Cheers for now <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Inez Dias or Anyone.

Great thing beeing able to add new locators!

I can´t find any sort of library whith models of chests, barrels, furniture etc. Do I have to cut them out from existing locations, and in that case, how is that done?

<b>Jack Rackham</b>, that is correct, you have to cut them out from existing locations. It can be done in any modeler program: use either GmViewer to export to obj format or my tool to convert to vrml or Maya with plugins to open gm files directly. I do it with the tool and then Max to cut patches out, but it is tedious work still.
I'm trying to put my own model library togther; if you cut anything out it would be nice if you could also make it available for download.

I have a few requests, if there are people cutting individual model elements out for the rest of us.

You know the ship boarding model, with the two boats stuck together? There's a seperate model for the smaller of the two, which I'm trying to use in my ship interior mod... but to have the larger of the two ships would be even better -- more doors and it's less battered looking, except for the cannons. (I can sort of fake it by making the other ship's texture clear, but you can still walk around on it, on air as it were -- so I need the whole thing cut off.)

I'd also like a few unconventional weapons, like taking the hook part off that boarding grappler in the same model, to use as a melee weapon; and there are plenty of musket models stuck to walls...

I could use a seperate rope element too, like coiled up or hanging down. Grand merci!

Alan have you tried the ship that you walk on in one of the segments of the main quest? Alistair Garcilaso's ship. Seems to me that's a `good-sized` ship, probably more like what you need? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

There's a nice coiled rope, IIRC, on the dock at Conceicao.

alan_smithee, you can use the two ships together:

It´s in Program/Locations/Init/Boarding

Just take any part referring to the model udeck and clone it

Jack

InezDias, Yes it´s now possible to view the character patches with your new tool.
Maybe this is obvious: The three values after the words single MUST be the coordinates! You can change them but how to "save" the changes in a `ptc-file`?

<b>Jack Rackham</b>, yes I know those are the coordinates (from them I draw the graphic). But you're right, I should just make the numbers in the textbox editable (will do it as soon as I have time). I was thinking about a graphic way to edit them, which is more difficult.

Anyway, if you're good at identifying geometry data, maybe you have an idea what the rest of the numbers are: the integers before the coordinates are the triangles, but what are the integers behind the coordinates ? And the bytes following them?
And the numbers up front after the word "More Integers"?
I have no idea what would be in the file besides points and triangles.

Inez, just a thought:

The last part of numbers (those who appear 8 & <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="8)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />, could it be heights in cm above the floor?

The highest number I found is 255. (Swedish standard 240)

170 is very common and that may be the height of the main characters eyes (horizont)if he is say `175-180cm`. If you look around in ordinary rooms a lot of things are in this height.

85 (about where he has his hands) too is common.(chests, tables)

Can it be corners of furniture, items?? Jack Rackham architect etc

Don't know - I'll look at the values again tomorow. That the highest number is 255, however, is because I read them as bytes, only because I have no idea if they're bytes or integers or singles. Might well be that they have to be combined in fours to integers or something - those would then be bigger than 255. Still, that they're corners of someting is possible.
