I get this error message after install:

I've gotten this exact message when installing "TONY HAWK UNDERGROUND 2", "CALL OF DUTY - United Offensive". And now Pirates!


PLEASE HELP!

p.s: The message appears after everything's been isntalled. I don't do anything to interrupt the installation process.

Yep i have the same problem as well... And i been looking everywhere to see if others bumbed into this problem too.. And now when i see that it's not only me having it, it glads me in a short way. If i or we just understod what that msg meant? Then probly atleast we could do something about it?

But i cant see any clues or helps in this topic.... it's sad indeed and having a feeling that i bought a empty box with out the game.

I dunno? I have reinstalled my drivers, even done defreg on my hd... also unstalled files and old games to get more space on the hd... even exchanged and switched DDR Ram... I really have no idea what that msg after the installation means? And the game delete it self in a sec after pressing finish. Like it never been installed it in the first place? Very strange?

Are our box copies wrong copied at the factory? As other can play the game with out problems i can see in other topics.. and too indeed having minor bug or crashes problem.. But atleast they can install it and play it for some few hours? We others in this topic cant.

I hope some Admin or supporter or some one could expline what that message means that "ninewords" Posted it on the top.

I and others would been very greatfull for any help out there.

Could be out on a limb here but do you chaps have anything that blocks registry modifications (adware, software firewall (sygate for instance), etc).

Have you tried installing in safe mode?
 
Hey, fellas.

I am "glad" that I'm not alone with this problem.

I have `ad-aware`, SpyWareBlaster, SpyBot, AVG - Free Aedition, and SpySweeper.

They are not running in the background when installing, though. I do have Win XP - SP 2 with the firewall enabled.

I will try installing in safe mode, but I cannot get the safe mode to start during the booting process for some reason. Is it still the "same" safe mode starting it in safe mode from the "msconfig" menu....?

Yes i also triad to install it in save mode but am getting exact strange thing you do when trying to boot in save mode? It loads up you see the admin icon and your profile icon.. but my mouse is frezed? and then win just rebot it self just of sudden.

I triad the MSCONFIG as well.. to start up the win with out the other software enabled. But with out any luck.. I scanned my win for any virues or trojans, also used the Spyware Doctor to clean up any smaps... I maniced to get into safe mod.. by chosing the restore mod something... sorry forgot exact how the line was (SP) in F8. But even in that Safemode it didnt work out. Got the same exact msg in the Pirates Install menu. I know it was in safemode, atleast it said so in the corners on my win deskop.

I'm not so good at this.. but i really dont have any close friends in my area that could help me, only the net it self.

I have to say that it's my first time ever in history i walked over something like this, because with my other games and programs by all years (15years) i never seen something like this in my whole life? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Hmmm.... What more have i triad out... Yes i disabled all my other programs manuel... Virus progy adware progy NortonFirewall... also disabled my self from the net by pluging out my TP cabel just to be 100%.

I know that my msg could sound quite newbies, but if something dont work like a game like Pirates... then you really start to try out everything even if you are pretty sure that it wont work if you do this or dash.

What does it mean, what do we need to do. To lett the game install Pirates! proppery.

I really hope some one that could come forward and help us with this so we folks that really cant play this great remake of Pirates!

If nothing happens in few days. I guess i have to try to walk back to the store and expline it to them. Don't know if i can exchange it or get my money back? But atleast it's better then nothing.

Ok I got it installed...finally

Got it working finally...what I did was I first installed it onto another machine to see if that worked and it did. I then reinstalled on my primary computer and waited till just before that nasty message came up and immediately turned the power off. When you restart the computer you should have all the files installed into the Fireaxis directory. If they didn't all install for whatever reason, then install on another computer and copy the needed file or files from that and paste them into the Fireaxis directory on your primary computer.

Let me know if that works for y'all.

I'm back after lots of tweaking & testing on my computer. After a while am really not so sure what i have done and not done? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> But what i do remember is that i unstalled the DirectX 9.0c and then unstalled ServicePack 2.... And once again like all those 101 times reinstallations of Pirates..

( Could probly do that in a dark room and sleep at the same time lol )

And wiated and wiated for that little file to end, and probly see that crap popup my screen again in all vain. But to my suprise <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> It Worked Out.

As far i know and understand it must be something with the SP2 because Ninewords cant do a simple safemode startup on he's WinXP, Niether could i, atleast couldnt with the SP2.

So i been playing this game no stop till now i'm here to cheer with you few or lots? That bumbed into the same strange problem i and others hade.

And Michael714 if you have SP2 on your system? Try to unstall it next time you install your Pirates copy to be sure it was SP2?

Yes and same as you i did install the copy on my fiance's computer and it worked out with out any problems <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The funny part is that she have SP2 installed? lol

But we just installed a fresh new WinXP so perhaps there arent any conflictings due to a fresh system? Or SP2 succefully installed it self by no visuel errors?

I had the same problems w/ THUG2 and, sure enough, by removing SP2, everything worked! Thanks for figuring that one out KERA_AK. You made my day! I really would have lost it if Pirates! had done the same thing. Now Im definitely going to get it tonight!
