Can't edit character_init.c file!!!

You already told us the answer: You are using Windows Vista <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I had similar problems with file access in Vista, even normal copying between folders - that's why I removed it. If you want to solve your problem try the security settings of the files/directories you want to edit and make sure your user has full control. You may even want to switch off the User Account Control (UAC) which is known to cause this problem.

but im the only user using this computer. the administrator or something. but i still cant edit. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />

well, i have seen a case where the administrator had to keep permitting himself to do something.

You can't save a file with Notepad on Windows Vista? Really weird. I would CERTAINLY RECOMMEND getting rid of that godwaful User Account Control crap. I hate it when I have to give my permission for every single little thing, including "making a folder", "renaming that folder" or <i>"starting a sailing simulator"</i>. I don't mind security, but this is too much of a good thing. WAY too much. I was SO happy when I found out how to turn it off and it is NEVER GOING BACK ON!!! Not until it learns to distinguish between those things it does and it doesn't need to ask permission for.

hey pieter, i can save the character file alr. thanks to your notepad++ or something like that. CHEERS!

but i have others problem too. like crashing when i go to world map. hmmm.

nope. its morning. and im in the new island, grand cayman if i din remember wrongly. just always crash when i go to the world map. now im stuck there

the wooden ones. actually, no. i mean compile log, system log, and error log in your main directory. if you turned the logging on, that is.
