Can't load save games!!!!

I've just started playing the game, finished the tutorials, saved then quit. Now when I go back into the game the "load" button is disabled.
If I go into a new game and press save, all my saves are still there but the load button is disabled.

I have tried from the main menu and in-game but no luck.

Am i being stupid here?

P.S. It is not a problem with graphic cards etc, because I could run the game earlier, and can run much better games than this (visually better I mean).

Edit: I'm not using any mods, it's just stock potc

happens pretty often. nothing to do about except taking precautions like backup-saves. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Where did you save? In the tutorial deck location? Go to Oxbay, then save there. I don't think saving on deck works. In any case: Getting the modpack is highly recommended, because it greatly improves the game, adding new ships, characters, quests, locations, features and fixing several bugs.

but it's also a good idea to get to know the game first. it makes it a lot easier to learn to use the mods later on, and you can far better see the difference.

I saved right at the start and in various places in oxbay. Installing build 13 fixed the problem. Though I would liked to have played without mods first, but oh well.

ah, yes, i've had that happen to me too once. for some reason all the saves kept screwing up. it dissapeared after a while though. i think when i got to another island.
