Can't talk to Virgile Boon when I board his ship

Running the latest version I am stuck inside Boon's ship. I fought the way to his cabin but he st ands here and when I try to interact with him - even hitting enter and selecting his icon - nothing happens.

Virgil Boon's ship ( the Oiseau ) is a quest ship. I think you are just supposed to sink it. And the quest book will update

If you board it you get stuck & the quest breaks.

It does say in the quest log that I should either sink OR board it.

I do think at one point boarding did also work. Not sure if that still is the case. Sounds like it isn't.

Well trying to sink that ship is a lot harder than boarding her, so it makes it almost impossible to accomplish this quest in my Lugger.

Someone else had trouble with that ship recently. So I captured it, killing Virgile Boon, and sailed it as my flagship to Bridgetown. I had no problems, but it seems others do occasionally. This was 1-2 months ago.
