Pirate Spirit Crew's Captain
<b>William Kidd (`1645-1701`) "Capt Kidd"</b>
<u>Ship</u>: <i>Adventure Galley</i>
Comes from Scotland, he started his career in British navy. Although he was talented, he chose, in the end of 17th century, married a rich widow and settled in New York.
In 1689, he took advantage of the war between France and English and became corsair thanks to the king’s letters of marks. But soon the two countries became allied and the Capt Kidd decided to attack pirates of the Indian Ocean. The NY’s governor: Lord Bellomont paid his expeditions.
In 1696 Kidd sail to Madagascar but refuse to attack enemy’s vessels. When his crew rose in revolt Kidd killed his gunner with a bucket of wood. Conscious of the charges on him, he boarded any ships that he found.
In January 1698, he took the « Quedagh Merchant » full, due to tells, of gold and booty. After that he decided to go back in NY.
The stories tell that he hide a part of his treasure on a desert island.
When he arrived at NY he was arrested.
He was judged in 8 may 1701 and hung in 23 May 1701 at "Execution Dock" in England where his body was exposed in a cage.
