Ambrose LeGaillard

Powder Monkey
After a long time of moving merchandises with a barque finally I have gained a very large sum, more or less about 70.000 piastres.

Now I must do a choice: taking a large ship for move more cargo, like a Caravel or a Fluyt and gaining better sums, or become a very good sea swashbuckler with a nice Schooner and a ferocious cuththroats crew?

Hard dilemma: great ships require a large (and expensive!) crew but the gain will be accordingly, more or less over 10.000 piastres/voyage, battling on sea is better and require less crew but repairs after battles costs some money, also if the boarded prey usually repay the expenses.

I have also another way for gain: the "sirata mustaqim"as the Coran saying, the "medium way" between one choice and the other.
Simply take a galeoth, arming heavily, then adjoin an unarmed barque: I have seen that with a lil fleet as this,
I can move a good amount of cargo, and defend my property with the galeoth as escort ship.
Also, with this choice, I have again a good sum on my chest.

Not bad at all, mateys, ahr ahr!

If you want to go pirating, you could consider switching to Divide the Plunder mode.
Then you do not pay your crew ANY salary. However, after about half a year you'll have to divide all the money you got together.
This is useful because:
1. You don't need to pay for quite a while
2. If you do well, the crew's morale will be higher than on salary mode, making battles somewhat easier

I also put some(medium amount) money on the weaponslocker as the crew has access to it and it boosts morale when I'm using Divide the Plunder mode.
Then again, Divide the Plunder mode is somewhat better as you'll have your fare share too and the wealthier you are the more famous you'll become. :onya

Money in the weaponslocker doesn't serve any additional purpose. o_O

Oh well, if you're happy, then I won't be complaining about it. ;)
