bumpkin

Master Mariner
Storm Modder
I found and downloaded the maps of all the dungeons and Caves, This one was not mentioned in the walk through (I have read so far) or as one of the maps. Air thar be sumptin speciial about it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p2" border="0" alt="pirate3.gif" />: I kills the two gaurds, enters the cave, shoot one of the skeletons and get attacked by at least half dozen more. Is this one O them thar sword play practicing locations? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />:

Bumpkin.

I have alway found it to be so, but Fred Bob tells me otherwise, and advocates using his "Quaker Style" exploit.

To say truly, I have never quite gotten the hang of Fred Bob's stratagem, but in this cave I tend to leave my officers back at the ship, (they get in my way,) and then shoot at one of the skeletons through the doorway to the main chamber to get their attention. I find the doorway keeps the number of skeletons that I have to face down to one or two at a time which I find generally helpful. (And good practice, as you say.)

A word to the wise, you may want to keep a couple of those bottles of red `Kool-aid` handy because the contents of that cave have a tendency to come back up on ya. You'll see what I mean.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

That cave, Bumpkin, is part of the Artois Voysey quest. He's the guy who you can stop Nigel Blythe from killing on QC when you get there the first time. If you stop Nigel and take Artois on as an officer, he'll eventually lead you to that cave...

I once read a walkthru of all quests, and IIRC, Nigel will eventually get you to the same location. I think we ought to fix that so Nigel takes you somewhere else entirely.

Man, last time I slogged my way through that cave, all alone, I got to the chest at the end and it wouldn't even open, coz there was nuthin' in it! I thought the build made it so you got some silver out of it.

I don't have much patience for Nigel, he's almost as big a PITA as Danielle! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

The silver is elsewhere, Alan. Do the quest with Artois... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: Did a little more searchin around and found the answers. I let Nigel kill Artois, then took on Nigel as an Officer. I can not seem to get him out of my quest book. I thought I one of the treads here said something about making him a captain then sail to on of the ports and he just goes away. Seems like every time I give command of a ship it gets sunk.

May Fair Winds follow your Journey.
Bumpkin.

Funny thang 'bout dat cave dat Fred Bob done be discoverin' be dat ye kin leave yer sword in its sheath an' literally RUN tew de udder exit! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Ye has gots tew know exactly whar de udder exit be or else ye be takin' mo' hits den ye kin survive! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> Fred Bob one time be makin' it through de cave, got de silver, an' be comin' back through de cave widout drawin' his sword once! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Try dat one! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

<!--QuoteBegin-Rico+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rico)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->What does this "Quaker Style" exploit consist of? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":huh" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Thar be two (2) versions o' Fred Bob's Quaker Exploit as follers:

1) Havin' weapons but not fighting back an' bein' amazed at how far ye kin git widout fightin'! Fer example, did ye know ye kin run all de way through de KR Maze widout ever drawin' yer sword?! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

...or

2) Havin' neither weapons equipped on yer person nor any ammo on ships! See a monk, who if'n ye smart off tew 'im, he be glad tew `de-equip` yer weapons! Notice dat in general, nobody be attackin' ye! Ye kin walk right through de dungeons an' boardin' actions widout liftin' a finger! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
