charcharacters.c ? Changing runspeed problems

Heretik

Hey guys,

one thing that always bothered me about POTC was that you ran so darn slow! Maybe it's just conditioning from other games, but I really can't take the character walking so slow. Anyways, I searched the forums for the variables, and Inezdias posted them earlier:

Oh, BTW:
The walking speed is controllable in the ani file:
Look at the [swim] entry for an example: speed = 1.1
You can set that for the [walk] entry also.
This controls the *animation* speed.
The speed of the actual movement over ground is set as in the existing [walk] entry:
data = "walk speed", "1.6"

appariently these variables are in a Charcharacters.c , but when I searched both *.c, and CharCharacters, I couldn't find a file that was called CharCharacters.c... Any ideas? Also - do you think that the time compression would change this variable every time it's used? Thanks again.

When I want to run somewhere quickly, I just press the R-button to speed up the time. Simple and no modding required. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Thanks Pieter!

that's a good idea. Also - I installed a music mod to change the music and wow - what a difference. Maybe I was just fed up with listening to the same music that I always listened to for the couple of years that I spent playing POTC pretty much exclusively. Thank you so much again! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

i made one too you know. but now a unfinished version of it is lost somewhere on the FTP server. the full version, which was not ENTIRELY completed yet, but vfery well usable, was lost when my computer crashed. when the FTP server is up again, i'll finish my work and put the definitive version up there again.

it mainly contains PotC music and a few other tracks. but i need a specific sound track that needs to be adjusted before i can use it. it could take quite some time to finally finish it.

it's all good man - I look forward to it when it's done <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

i did hear that the FTP was back up. i'll see if it is and maybe do some work on it. the problem is, i won't be able to test it because i haven't got the game at the moment. you do risk some problems. but i'm sure that i can fix any of them. it worked last time, so it should work this time as well.

hmm...it doesn't seem to be working, but it doesn't say it doesn't work either. strange.

ok, i figured out that it's being worked on. anyway, as you are going to use it, i need some answers. do you have anything against the 'the kraken' soundtrack? do you mind if some of the songs have vocals? do you mind the overall music volume being rather low? about the last question, i have to add that ALL the soundtracks have roughly the same volume, so it's simply a matter of decreasing the other volume settings (besides the music) and turning the volume of your speakers up.
