City of Abandoned Ships

marauderim

Sailor Apprentice
i've just finished coas quest...

i am trully disapointed, being this the quest that share the games name i was expecting a lot more...

this place had so much potential...
could become our safe place,
we could become the new city admiral,
we could use captured ships to repair it,
we could use captured ships to build more places in the city,
the mechanic could become the city governor under our comand,
one last quest could be to repair those ships enough to float and resist the hurricane,
after that quest the entire city could become a "ship", not being able to sail anywhere, but be able to float, and being a "ship" we could repair it, hire soldiers, equip with guns,...
the india company could keep trying to find it and attack it, while we should defend it every time it was attacked...

this was just some ideas that comes to my mind while thinking in that place, there are a lot more possibilities for the city that gives the name to the game...

any one feels the same?

Yep, definitely. I was hoping to either own the city or at least be able to use it as a base.

As far as I have played the Kill The Beggars and COAS are the only quest's that are linked into a short store line all the rest are separate single quests unlike POTC, I would have liked more to be linked in some way and the ships city to be your home base

I would love for it to actually be movable. It looks like it's floating but it's not... well maybe there could be some kind of long quest to bring a lot of big ships (class 1) to the city to reinforce it and swap out the old wrecks for the mint new ones, eventually allowing the city to float on its own and be moved around the map. That'd be quite nice. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

i think thats because this game is not based on a single storyline, so u cant have all the quests linked each other, this way you can do wathever you want when you want, if they were linked you should be doing it in the right order and then you loose a lot of the freedom you have now

but you still have peter blood storyline

i've tought about that also <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> but only at small scale, it could be moving slowly over time, so his location would never be exactly the same, full sailing is not very good idea, because then you have to be navigating it and we are talking in a easy target for every one on the sea to attack us, even well guarded would be hard to go anywhere without a lot of fights in the way, the idea is to be a hide safe place, not a war mother ship hehe

imagine if we could replace the broken ships ring by a man-o-war ring hehehe

If you are replacing the ships one-by-one, you'd have to pre-make a location model with pretty much every single combination possible.
That'd keep someone busy for a lifetime! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

well, there is one easy solution for that, making only possible to replace old ships by new ones from the same model hehe, that keeps everything simple, the only problem will be the links betwen ships, now we have links in places only possible coz of the damaged hulls, well that could be solved by removing any links other than deck links

another way to make things easy, is to make a full new city, already floating, and making a quest(like i proposed before) with the objective of repairing the city and making it float, then, when we finish the quest, the new city just need to be loaded all at once <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

this is just me talking, im not a modder, i have no idea how hard things can be hehe

Well the models don't correspond to any ships in the game anyway, so I thought it would be enough to simply swap out the weathered textures for shiny new ones.
