Dear Skull <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Yeah I know and I heard it couple of times that most people have probs after installing the newest Catalyst or Omega drivers. I think it depends on the PC and the OS and how well both are configured. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" /> I´v got he US Version and not the european version.

Aye mate,good point,yer PC be like a car, need te keep it fine tuned <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

My computer is tuned, and I was having serious issues with lockups, spontanious reboots, all the cities disappearing, and constant system freezes with my GeForce4 Ti 4200 64M card. I went out and bought a GeForce FX 5700 LE 128 Meg card and all of that went away. The drivers are the same, the directx is the same, just a new card. Of course my buddy with a GeForce2 64M runs fine, even though he can't run any of the highend graphics games.

However, that said, with my new card, I can't access the map without it freezing, which was one of the only things that worked right with the old card. Kinda torques me off since I spent the cash specifically to run this game and the card has no problem running other high end graphics games like Halo2 that blow Pirates! visuals out of the water. I mean, come on, the map worked on my old 64 bit Commodore, but I'm supposed to believe it my system, with a Gig of Memory, an AMD 2200+, newest drivers, BIOS and Direct X is the reason the map can't be displayed without freezing? That map isn't much more than a PDF file with `drill-down` capabilities. Why does it keep my processor at 100%? And with no word from any of the companies who put their name on the box, its very irritating.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

My system is a P4 1.8 with 600 RAM. MSI Geforce 4 MX 460 with the latest NVidia drivers thinking it's a Geforce 4 FX 460 (I dunno why, but every game works so me no complain!). Everything else is run off my Intel main board.

I've never had a crash with Pirates, and the only game I've ever had problems with on this system is Alexander. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

hey, i've experienced excatly the same problems as you. i get random reboots occasionally entering sea battles and have had all the cities dissapear a few times. i'd like to upload my save game (but can't figure out how to) with the problems to see if it gets passed on since reloading the game makes no difference for me. i'm running a 1.2GHz duron and geforce 5200fx with winXP and latest drivers. and i agree you, landsharkfy, it's incredibly irrating...

Athlon mabye?

I am only saying this as I too am having this problem but strangly enough didn't have it to start with played the game for hours no probs then I installed my SBLive Sound Card 5.1 and now crashes to desktop, I am also running an AMD.

Has to be the sound card maybe?

eh?

cheers

My system is
Atlhon XP 1800+
512 RAM
GeForce4 MX 64Mb
Win XP SP2

The game works fine just in 800x600 resolution, but when a ground batle starts the game became too slowly... my troups spent about 1min to move... I changed the resolution do 600x480 with no extra details... but the problem continue....
someone knows how to solve it? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I have a Geforce 4 TI 4200, 256mb, 2100+ Athon XP.

I think it either has something to do with the Geforce, or the AMD. LOTS of people having thing problem are running an AMD.

It could also be that combination.

the problem is sound blaster live 5.1, I know this as the game crashed all the time with the SB Live 5.1. I removed it, went to onboard sound, no more crashes (none).

Thank me later guys and gals :)

Cheers

I had this prop with a Nvidia card

G-Card was completely screwed and had to replace it (and i tryed everthing else first (it was a GeForce 5600 LE or somewhere in the 5000 range, I cant exactly check cause I binned the bloomin thing) :wink

Had it with all games
