confused and frustrated

allright something happend so that all my .tga files in my textures folder want to opened with a program and i just want it to go back to the way it was, i tried uninstalliing and reinstalling to no avail. an example of what has happend is when i hit F2 there are no titles on any of the buttons for example "charactor" is no longer written there, i can go in and adjust my character such as the skills and all but its just that there arnt any words there. is anyone following me and understanding what has happened or am i basically screwed and lost everyone in the process thus making everyone a little bit dumber for having read this? any help and i will worship you or at least your general area. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_praise.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_praise.gif" />

my finger sliped when it was over the "open with" command and so now my computer is trying to open all the .tga files with paint program. any suggestions??

The two _should_ be unrelated. Unless you _save_ the tga.tx files once opened. If you have, you will have to uninstall POTC and reinstall.
Regarding the file association, you should be able to go to any folder window and go to tools->options, file types, find tx, and delete it.
(In 98, it'll be in View->Folder Options, IIRC)

allright i went to folder options and deleted tx, then i completely unistalled then reinstalled potc including the mods and still the same thing, the game itself runs fine its just there are no titles on any of the options, i think it may be only on options that were changed with the build cause the main menu and the options from the main menu are all fine except difficulty - the button to change difficulty is there but it dosnt say anything on it and i can click on it and it will bring me to the difficulty settings but there once again there is no text but the buttons are there and they work. whats your take on it? since its only on options dealing with the build do you think it is a bad copy of the build that im using and i should redownload and install that? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
