Corpse Looting: Broken?

Capn_Tucker

Landlubber
I'm currently playing with beta 7, and have noticed that looting of corpses apparently does not work. I've tried walking up to them, but never get the the option to "open" them. Only the "talk" icon (what are you, Hamlet or something?).
Had same problem with beta 6. I've tried enabling "autoloot" too, but that doesn't work either. Any ideas, anyone? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Press the [O] key when you're standing next to a corpse. Does that work?

or.....better yet remap the 'O' key to one not so close to the 'I' key? I use 'C' now(for Corpse) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

But yeah i just used to use the auto-loot settings within buildsettings.h, untill i found out about the manual 'loot' key <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I dont know how i missed it first time around - it will tell you all the keys in the 'control/configure' section of the Options menu.

If you're using C for corpse looting, what are you using for taking a potioin? The C key causes you to take a health potion.

Hook

that could be a problem! oh and what uses the 'L' key - i tried to use that but it says its in-use, just not sure for what(it dosen't say in the options section)? ok so i better change the 'C' back to its origonal function!

hmmm 'B' for body?

Or how/where could i change the 'I' for initalise key? Am i the only one who hits it by mistake when looting bodies?

whats the drawback of autolooting? i cant imagine anything, apart from possibly clogging up the inventory.

but still, id rather autoloot than press a key for each corpse i produce <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

I use "r" for the sound it makes "Riiiiiiiip!".

My C is remapped to V, since C is dodge now for fighting.

Well, all my keys are basically remapped <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I do it in the init_pc.c file with winmerge, as I change some key settings that you cant change in the options menu.

Isn't the "L" key for logs, that is on-screen messages at the top left corner of the screen?

The disadvantages of autoloot: You don't loot all the character's items, just gold, blade and gun.

yeah at first i was only doing auto-loot, partialy cause i hadn't 'discoverd' the key for manual looting - and i got used to it. Still i would recomend manual looting anyday now i'm used to it - gives you a bit more control over what to pick up or not.

@Petros L is for the log(on/off toggle) - cheers forgot that one.

So i must be the only one to sometimes(read too often) hit the 'I' initialise key when using 'O' to loot? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

You can change the default key settings yourself. Most settings you can change in the game itself and all others can be changed in PROGRAM\CONTROLS\init_pc.c. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

Autoloot doesn't seem to work either; I move up next to slain opponents, but nothing is added to my inventory. Is there something else I'm missing here?

With autoloot: When you kill an enemy, you immediately get his money, blade and gun. You don't have to stand next to the corpse anymore. Check your inventory to see if you got any looted items.

Hmm, will have to try again. Just installed Beta 8 and started another game, so that's as good a time as any I suppose...
