Corrupt File?

I recently was given this game by a friend who didn't want it anymore, but I cannot install it on my computer.

The installation gets to a certain point and I get this error:

"Error 1335 - The cabinet file 'Progra~1.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."

How can I fix this or get the file needed? I apologize for the double post. But someone please help me. I cannot wait to play this game!
 
Is the cd scratched? It may just need repaired .If you can't afford a cd repair kit one trick that often works is to use a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft toothbrush and gently scrub the cd in tight circles all the way around it.This will actualy make it look worse ,but usualy works unless it is severely damaged.
