I'm just letting you know that if you'd like to do a bit of co-op development, I'm a long time modder for various games. Just slowly figuring my way out around here for PotC and AOP. I'm primarily a modeller with a bit of talent with scripting (once I figure out how the coding works that is). I've done stuff for Neverwinter Nights, Treadmarks, Carmageddon TDR and other games.

Anyhow, I figured I would give you an offer of building some models for your Building Set mod. I'm just hoping for a bit of help here and there for my efforts to learn the code for both PotC and AOP.

Give me a shout if thats sounds interesting and agreeable to you.

Thanks a lot, that is a very generous offer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> However, for the time being I'd rather not change or add anything at all to the Build. What the Build IMHO currently needs are NO changes but consolidation and fixing.

So if you could FIX some of our problems regarding buildings and townmodels you'd be the hero.

Those problems are the lack of collisiondetection for buildingsetmodels, and the lack of dark buildingtextures at night. Though those problems may not lie with the models themselves but rather with the way the game treats itemmodels. (see the buildingset thread in the "alpha" section for details).

Another model change that many players would welcome would be different townmodels for the new islands. Captain Caceres once tried to make new towns (use the search function to check his posts) , but never completed them cause ENTIRELY new townlayouts would require also entirely new locator, walkpatch etc. files. So IF you want to tackle that my advise would be to leave the townlayouts basically as they are and change only the looks of the buildings.

KISS, as I like to say, keep it small and simple. But nobody ever listens to me if I preach selflimitation *grins* ( meaning ' <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> ' in English <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> )

BTW, any models you make for PotC can of course also be used for your "main goal" AOP...

Check, and I fully understand. If you also have a look over at the AOP modding forums, I have a post about some of my modelling plans for ships as well. If you have any suggestions or ideas there, give me a shout.

The main things I really want to learn is the code itself. **grins** Big job I know, but thats the only way for me to really be helpful overall. **winks**
